Stop crying about bluetooth!!!!!!!!

vzw22

OK, I'm going to try and out it plain and simple: about the Bluetooth....Please, read up on it before you start bashing VZW about "they cripple it". You have to understand that VZW has no choice to cripple it, or else they are in legal trouble. VZW must purchase the right to use bluetooth, and they chose to only purchase the right to use it's headset funtions in an effort to save money. Fact of the matter is...VZW didn't see the need for the other functions. Let's say they purchased the full access rights for (don't know a figure, just a guess) $10 Million. Now let's say that they onty make $5 million in bluetooth capable phones...they're out $5 million bucks! With all of the customers asking for the full bluetooth capability though lately, ...

Well, why don't you give a detailed explanation of why he's wrong instead of just acting like an ignorant jackass.

Yes, please tell me how I am wrong exactly. Bluetooth is software in the phone, and there are different versions of it. Let's use an analogy... lets say you need (for example) an adobe program for opening pdf files on your computer. You can download the read only software for free, but if you want to be able to create pdf files and edit them, you must pay for the full version. This means it costs more money to have more capabilities with a software program. Perhaps this concept is a little too advanced for people who have nothing better to do than sit there and feel they are right on every subject without having knowledge to back it up, and for that I am sorry, but please don't bash anyone before you get your facts straight.

1 this is now the licesning model for bluetooth. 2 Verizon has flat out admitted that they are the ones who restrict the OEMs siting to the customers that BT is not secure. Admitting to employees that it is a financial decision. Short and true answer is VZW does not want people using BT two transfer files that they can charge a customer to transfer. That is why there is no DUN on the EVDO phones. Are you really that blind or are you a VZW marketing person? Verizon is a great company, but not perfect. And sometimes they but bottom line before the customers. I truly beleive that if a customer is willing to pay the extra for a device they should be able to do what the phone was built to do.

wow this bluetooth thing is getting bit much. everyone has the right to speak their minds ,but this bluetooth thing is so 2 months ago. get over it!!! it is crippled you can't change that now( unless you hack into it). if you don't like it crippled don't buy it. I personally don't care about paying a few measelly cents for some ringtones cause i don't want 5,000 ringtones. But if u do care about that then their are other options available to you... bluetooth is crippled move the f*&k on!!! please.

lets get back to legit thing like the release date and other info.

ok guy, you said verizon had no choice but to cripple it or they would be in legal trouble. Are you the President of Verizon, or just a brainwashed employee defending the company you work for? Let me set your striaght guy so you can understand. They had a choice, don't say they didn't have a choice. They HAD a choice and that choice was to cripple it. Period bottome line. Is it for the financial reasons you state about the handsets. I dont know and I dont care. But I'm sure getitnow played heavily into it. They knew by allowing people to get free ringstones, wallpaper, and games they would lose money. Now what do you got to say. Tell me some more lies about how verizon didnt have a choice.

first of all, they wewre talking about bluetooth, for some time. Maybe not in this forum (LG 8100) but in the Verizon forum. Sorry for posting it in this forum. Anyway, to respond to an earlier comment that they did have a choice, that is true, they DID infact have a choice....but that choice was to either buy the FULL version or the headset only version. They CHOSE headset only version. Like I said, don't be surprised if they change that.

Geez.... Feel the hostility.....I'd like open bt just as much as the next guy, but only for evdo internet on my laptop. But that does me no good b/c evdo isn't hitting my market (tucson) till q1 '06. Headset's fine for me. Besides, are the statements true that open bluetooth is prone to attract viruses from any bt device that wants to send them, or does the device still need to be paired to receive transmissions?

I believe that the biggest reason BT is crippled is Get It Now. I think the reason VZW didn't buy the full version software is Get It Now.

VZW is very content with their proprietary software/ringtones. This means more $$ for them. I wish Verizon would just worry about providing me cell phone service and let me deal with my expensive phone.

Since nobody seems to understand what I am trying to say...I am done with this topic. Try to listen to what I am trying to say...think about it more before spouting off in responces. I can't thnik of any other ways to explain what I was trying to say in the begining...so I am done. Kepp arguing with yourselves if you feel the need. Sorry for pissing anyone off and causing any heart attacks or increased blood presure. Just take deep breaths and count to ten...you may feel better. Later!
