extendable antenna

i thought i saw somewhere that this has an extendable antenna
is this true?

It says stub antenna in specs.

any one know if you can get a smaller antenna? I know it might not get the same signal strength, but I always break them.

Not only will it not pull the same signal, but it will blow out your receiving board over time. By over time I mean it could be weeks, it could be months. I've seen it happen numerous times. The WORST thing you can do is buy one of those "designer" antennas at a mall kiosk. Not only do they not work for crap, they instantly void any warranty on the phone; on a $3-500 phone, I want my manufacturer's warranty. 😉

Along those same lines, how much difference does an extendable antenna really make???

All depends on the initial strength of the network. On verizon, especially in a home area, the antenna extended is negligible. The areas where it helps most are analog areas on tri mode phones.
