815user23

I figured out how to use mp3's from the transflash card as ringtones. It took some time, but it works every time. Reply to this thread if you want the instructions.

ok i posted this below but i didn't change the title so i'll repost it right here:

i guess he's not going to tell you so i will. all you gotta do is create a pix message and attach the file. send it to a FAKE phone number such as 555-555-5555 or 111-111-1111. the message delivery will FAIL, that is a good sign. you don't want it to send successfully. the message will go into your message OUTBOX. there, you can view the message and the ringtone will play. you can save the file there. choose menu, save, file, save to phone. the mp3 will now be able to play in your phone's memory and THERE you can set it as a ringtone. NOTE: the file can't be bigger than about 300k or so. it won't fit in a pix message and won't send properly.

Just use a media editor like Windows movie maker, load the file, and cut the 30 seconds (a ringtone only rings for about 30 seconds anyway) and then save the cut file. I think it saves it only as a WMA file so just then download a WMA to MP3 converter, and then your good to go.

The MP3's has to be transferred to your phone's internal memory to be used as ringtones.
I believe in an earlier forum it said to attach the mp3 to an email message sent from your phone to a non-existent email address or phone number.
When you get the error message that the email didn't go through, open up that email message, highlight the mp3 file and in the menu selection, choose save file in the phone memory.
Hope this works.

If anyone wants to know how to use MP3s, or any tune, as a ringtone, just do some homework on your own and "SEARCH" the forum! 😉

The "Search" block is at the top and bottom of the main forum page and this forum has LOTS of information and tips on how to do. 😁

Sorry, there is just to much information to "hold your hand" for each person and r-list it in any one post! 😕

This forum has a wealth of information in it on almost any topic of this phone. Just LOOK for it. The forum is not meant to cover the same question over and over a 100 times! 😡

The other guy was being a real jerk. Starting a thread to get people to line up and ask just so the can spank 'em and feel good about himself. That just so Jr. High School.

Yup! I have to agree :-). While I have not tried it out myself, instructions on how to use mp3 files as ringtones have been posted here many times before (I would say they were posted as soon as the phone came out). So, I'm not even sure if the original poster "figured out" how to do it 😉

It could be that he/she has been busy and thus has not had a chance to post his/her "help". I hope this is the case, as it would be so infantile otherwise! I used to be like this, but I stopped doing it after my 5th birth day 🤣

Changing your Subject line like a dozen posts up would have saved a lot of time for those you wanted to help, and spared you aggravation.

People would have seen that you had help for them, and the subsequent posts would have been thanking you.

Looks obvious to me too! 😁

Why is it these kids join a forum and never read up on the subject in the posting they are interested in? 🙄

It's called "doing your homework"! 😛

I have a much easier way - maybe only works with my cell phone provider??? I have Alltel.

1. Put mp3 files on your transflash card.
2. Go to multimedia menu then select "sounds" (be sure that it's looking at files on transflash card).
3. Highlight a mp3 file that you wish to use as a ring tone and select "copy" from the sounds menu.
4. Copy file to "phone".
5. Once file is copied over you can select the mp3 as a ringtone from ring styles.

When your phone rings it only plays about the first 30 seconds of the mp3. I have not compressed or clipped any of my mp3s and it works perfectly.

It's nice to see that other cell companies do not cripple their phones like Verizon does.

Unfortunately for us Verizon uses, the "Copy" was disabled (forgive me if I'm wrong) for sound files. I used one of the many seem editing tutorials out there and enabled the copy option and I too can easily move files back and forth. But I personally prefer using OBEX so I don't have to mess with the Transflash (microSD).
