If your battery hasn't died yet you got one heck of a good battery. Did you condition your battery (charge it for 24 hours with the phone off)?

I didn't condition it because I think once the phone reads fully charged it does not accept any more poower from the outlet into the battery. But not only isn't it dead, it still reads 6 out of 6 when I go to the battery meter.

Your battery will still accept power even after fully charged thats the conditioning part and after your battery goes dead and you hear that annoying low battery beeping noise you need to charge your battery for 8 hours to condition it for full optimization of the battery even if it says "Charge Complete". Any Verizon rep or Motorola rep that knows what they are talking about will tell you that. Its even listed in the manual. Well if you got the energizer battery be happy but i would keep an eye on it to make sure it don't over heat or anything on you.

its a lithium ion battery, which means no memory affect, and conditioning the battery wont do anything, the battery on my 815 lasts me 3 days without charge and thats with making a lot of calls, using the camera, and playing games

OMG!

All the power in my house went out and my backup generator went so I connected my phone in place of the generator and now, I have power in the whole house and just canceled with the electric company. Best thing is, my phone hasn't even dropped one bar yet and my house has been powered on for 2 days now.

My battery last me 6 to 7 days after i conditioned it for 24 hours and thats using all the features on the phone and tons of calls because i don't have a regular phone line. Its all in the user manual on how to take care of you battery and how to get optimal use out of your battery as well. They don't put that in there for nothing if you are getting 3 days out of your battery without conditioning your battery and i am getting 6 to 7 days with conditioning my battery that tells me something.

thats not a good comparison, being that i can be making hell of a lot more phone calls that you do, or what not. manufacturers puts that in there because it was part of thier older manuals for the Nimh batts. its one of those subjects, that is in a gray area, now unless you yourself have tested two very similar phones use it for the same amount of times and use the same amount of applications, then its inconclusive, and i dont think moto or any other cell company tests those things out, they only test call longevity and standy by longevity...

if a charge keeps going into the battery while it said its already full, then it will actually do more harm to your battery. Thats going by what sony and panasonic reps have told me about thier li...

My big question is how do they expect people to condition the battery? The reps harp on it in the store, then activate the phone for you right away. I use mine for work, I can't be without it for a day while the phone is conditioning the battery.

I just read a site that says the first THREE cycles must be full discharge then 24 hour re-charge with the phone off. How am I supposed to do that when the phone is in service? I want/need to use it during that time, but I wouldn't be able to if I want to properly condition the battery!

I never "conditioned" the battery on my T730, it's now 2 years old. If I didn't have weak/no signal in my office I could probably go 5 days on standby stil, and it's not the extended battery for the phone....

Yes and thats standby time we are talking about actual talk time and using applications. The applications on phones these days require a lot battery power that drains your battery down quite a bit. I understand people are getting ticked off at this point but hey conditioning my battery has worked for me if they don't want to believe it thats fine they don't have it. You go into the store or you call Verizon or Motorola they will tell you in the manual they will tell you to charge and discharge your battery a few times for full optimization yes it is a pain no i don't do it for 24 hours i do it for 8-10 hours and i do it while I'm sleep its the most convenient time for me to do it. But to each its own. This is a topic that could go aroun...

Here is what the manual says about the battery. I took the info directly from the manual:

Battery Tips
Battery life depends on the network, signal strength, temerature, features and accessories you use.

* Always use Motorola Original batteries and battery chrgers. The warranty does not cover damage caused by non-Motorola batteries and/or chargers

* New batteries or batteries stored for a long time may take more time to charge.

* When charging your battery, keep it near room temerature.

* When storing your battery, keep it unchargedin a cool, dark, dry place, such as a refrigerator.

* Never expose batteries to temperatures below -10C (14F) or above 45C (113F). Always take your phone with you when you leave your vehicl.

motoman, i wasnt upset please dont take it that way i was just trying to have a good conversation,

but another thing i forgot to point out is that if you go less that 5% on a lithium ion batt, it will wear it down a lot faster, but i dunno

drigo1178 no offense taken there is a lot of confusion about batteries and we each have our own way of conditioning them and caring for them. My method works good for me and if other peoples methods work good for them thats good as well. This is just one of those gray areas of owning a phone and taking caring of the battery. I just hope that our information has helped other people.

Theres no reason whatsoever why those others of us who read these see-saw opinions you guys post like on the battery conditioning matter should have to at the end of the Topic still not be 100% confident in your reports, so i propose this:
In order to make this concern abundantly clear for all with the "pure" facts, why not post a URL directly from the battery manufacturer for us all to confirm exactly what IS the proper procedure for obtaining the best results from this battery.
Thanks.

here is a good link to the technology and specifically how and why to charge these batteries.

apparently posters were both corrrect to some degree regarding the recharging protocol.

http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm »

http://www.powerstream.com/li.htm »

it would appear we should all be storing our phones in the fridge.

Thanks for the links 🙂

Looks like heat is the enemy of the E815 since it uses this type of battery.

:A FEW NOTES I FOUND OF INTEREST:

Depending on the state-of-charge and storage temperature, lithium-based batteries have a typical lifetime of 2-3 years (longer if partially charged and kept cool).

The speed by which lithium-ion ages is governed by temperature and state-of-charge

High charge levels and elevated temperatures hasten permanent capacity loss.

Some reserve charge is needed to keep the battery and its protection circuit operational during prolonged storage. The most harmful combination is full charge at high temperature. This is the case when placing a cell phone or spare battery in a hot car. Running a laptop ...

This is such a bunch of crap....take a look at the posts last sunday that elude to the care of LI-ON Batteries. There is no need to "condition" them. Read and understand.

Informed people read, not "guess" at what works.....

Gee, you'd think someone as informed as you claim to be would understand the difference between 'elude' and 'allude.'

While we're at it . . . 'Sunday' should be capitalized. And it's Li-Ion, not LI-ON.

I'll grant that Li-Ion and Li-Polymer batteries do not need to be conditioned for maximum longevity. That said, you'd have looked a bit more intelligent had you simply stated that fact, rather than attempt to belittle someone else.

I think that other guy was just poorly informed and assumed most all cell phone batteries required conditioning; I SHOULD HAVE SAID!

Hope he read from those aricles in the URL links because if he is been doing that he might have cut down on the life of his battery and won't know it untill he ends up having to recharge a lot.
