Confusion over mobile phone tools

I've been trying to figure out whether or not to get the mobile phone tool kit for my e815. It seems there has been confusion on this forum as to what can and can't be done with the kit (DUN, contact syncing, etc...). I called customer service last night and the rep i talked to said they have been told that the mobile office kit is NOT compatible with the e815 and that it is not to be sold with the phone, or any EV-DO capable phone. He said anyone trying to use the mobile office kit to access the internet will be (in his words) "going to jail" for stealing from verizon.

For those of you who already have the toolkit and the e815 - what are your experiences? Does it work with the 815 for contact syncing and connecting to the internet w...

What did you tell the guy, that you wanted to access the internet by hacking Verizon's newest release so would MPT work?

Man, the nerve of some noobs.

i don't know why you would be put in jail but use the Microsoft mobile phonetools 3.0. Its different from the mobile office and cheaper too i think.

I purchased MPT with my E815 on-line, so there's obviously no restriction doing it that way. The delivered version didn't support the E815 specifically, but a brief session with LiveUpdate solved that issue . . . the E815 is specifically listed.

It worked fine for DUN, contact syncing, and even MMS (Multimedia Studio) once I applied a seem update. I can transfer ringtones and pictures (and movies, with a great deal of patience) via Bluetooth with no problem. A fantastic phone, as far as I'm concerned . . . Verizon's meddling notwithstanding.

Could you please give the detailed instructions to how you did the contact syncing? Also do you know if you can sync your outlook calendar to the phone? If so please give those instructions as well. Thanks in advance.

Purchase the Motorola Mobile Phone Tools package from VZW or some other source. Install it, get all available updates. Once that is done and your phone is set up in MPT, you should be able to click the synch button that has appeared on your Outlook toolbar.

I currently have a T730, this process worked for me, using the USB cable.

When I try to go through the installation wizard it keeps saying that it cannot detect my phone. Has anyone done this with the e815 yet? Is the software compatable with this phone? I bought the kit from verizon, it is the same one that goes with the v710.

I have the same trouble with mPT and my E815. I have posted to the BVRP forums and am awaiting a response. I ran Live Update and pulled in an update and it still can't detect the phone (mPT v. 3.25b).

I guess I am slow right now. I cannot find these folders. Could you please walk me through step by step (like C, Program Files, etc.)? The VZ tech support is no help with this phone.

Sucks to be you, then. DUN works fine for me, as does MPT's Multimedia Studio. Only minor hacking required.

Why doesn't anybody use the IPHONEBOOK OR IDATEBOOK? For contacts and calender I hate paying the extra costs but I need my address's Its a crappy program but its the only way for me to somewhat have access to my contacts address's, and It is much cheaper than buying a PDA .
What does using MPT offer? Just curious.

Thanks
