Mobile Phone Tools Question

I've had my E815 for almost a year now, having a V710 for the two years prior.

I've always been interested in Mobile Phone Tools, but was never sure of a few things.

All I've ever read about it was that one could sync it with their PC using Outlook. My specific questions I've never seen addressed here (may have missed some posts though)

I do not use Outlook at home (but I DO at work...I use Eudora Pro at home). I have two questions. If I used MPT only at home, does it have to utilize Outlook on my PC? (I imagine I could install Outlook only for my phone and still use Eudora for my email)

Also, if I use MPT at home or at work, can you edit the phonebook on the PC? By edit, I mean add or delete contacts, edit the Speed Dial numbers...

Mobile phone tools has its own calendar program that you can use, so no, you don't need outlook.

You can make entries on your PC in that calendar and sync to the phone.

Thanks. However, that only answers part of my question. I really do not use the calendar/datebook.

My main concern is the phonebook and the ability to completely enter and/or edit all aspects (groups, speed dial numbers, entries) of the phonebook/contacts on the computer and then sync/download that to the phone.

Same answer for that, too.

Thanks! Thought so, but wanted to be sure. You never can tell what software will or will not so anymore, especially when it comes to cell phone providers who LOVE to take away capabilites.

That's true. One thing that I found that isn't necessarily reported correctly is that you CAN do syncing via bluetooth with this phone.

One other thing:
By default, the calendar and phonebook that come
with MPT only SEEM to run when when you have the
phone connected, but there is a way to start them
without starting the master program. (I don't
remember what it is, but once you get them loaded,
there are several executable files in the main folder.)

I should also add that MPT is not the best-supported software out there, and getting it to run can be non-trivial.

If you have your phone entries last name first (I do) you need to set that in MPT preferences BEFORE you do your first sync, or it will get them wrong.
