that is the best way i can describe my main issue with this otherwise awesome phone. it is not a speaker phone or bluetooth issue; it occurs with just plain old regular hand set use. i went back to verizon and the E815 they have on display there allows you to make calls. i called the sales guy just to see if it was my phone that was defective, or if the problem could be replicated with a different E815. sure enough, the display E815 had the same problem. i had the sales guy listen, and he agreed that it was really annoying. apparently, all E815s have this problem, but i don't think it annoys everyone as much as it does me. i think since it is such a great phone otherwise, people ignore it...and i've tried to ignore it too, but i just can't.....

I noticed what you are describing when I first used my 815. I just thought it was the difference between my new Verizon CDMA technology and my old ATT GSM technology. My old GSM just sounded different. I actually think the GSM phones had better voice quality. Of course the CDMA has much broader coverage. Are you coming from a GSM service by chance?

In any case. I just noticed it the first couple of times. Now, I don't even notice it. I've also heard the echo a couple of times, but only briefly during a conversation. I never considered it a problem.

Just remember that no phone is perfect. I just pick the one with the least problems. And for me, that's the 815... I love it.

Good luck

My E815 echoes severely when using a Bluetooth car kit, but only for the person on the other end, not on my end.

When using a Jabra 250 BT headset, I hear a slight echo of my own voice.

When using a plug-in headset, I sometimes hear an echo of my own voice, while the remote person hears no echo.

It definitely echoes more than my Motorola Timeport 270c, even when that was used with the same BT headset and wired headset.

Maybe that's what they mean when they say "Can you hear me now?"!

i returned the E815 and bought the lg 6100 after my post yesterday. the 6100 has a continuos hiss in the background. I tried my wife's phone (she has a different model lg) and she has the same hiss. i think the hiss is probably less distracting than the echo thing i was getting with E815, but the E815 is a totally superior phone in almost all other ways. i'd like to switch back and just try to ingore the E815 echo, but i don't think it is possible for me. so where does that leave me?? extremely frustrated!!

Try the LG vx-8000. Sound quality is great. Reception in low signal strength areas is it's weak point.

My experience:

During my testing phase with the phone I noticed hearing my voice through the earpiece as well. I did find out as others have that if I moved the phone away from my mouth just a bit and spoke in a little lower tone it addressed the issue, I have the volume at about 4 or 5. The party I was speaking to could hear me fine.

After using the phone for a week or so I now do not notice it at all (either I got used to it, I adapted, or it doesn't occur, either way it's not an issue for me). I know some phones and/or people may be more sensitive to it but if you can get over it it's a great phone. Best of Luck in your quest.

I am annoyed at the same problem with hearing myself while talking on the phone. I hope enough people address this problem for Motorola to make a software change on the sensitivity of the microphone or the feedback to the earpiece. I have made the adjustments to my voice code and have not noticed a difference with this particular problem.
This is not an echo problem with the speakerphone or BT. I have the Jabra V250 and prefer talking on it to using the handset because of this problem.
I have submitted a problem through the motorola site. Maybe if enough people file problems through motorola site they will look into the problem. Thanks for your input.

Here is the site. I recommend everyone go to this site and give Motorola feedback on the voice feedback problem in the E815 earpiece. Thanks.
