Next Time, A Speakerphone, Please

This is a nice entry-level phone, and I'm very happy that Samsung reversed their prior mistake with the a650 and included an outside display with this one.

That said, this phone would be a lot more tempting to me if it only had a speakerphone. It seems that very few Samsung phones have 'em, and I really wish that Sammy would realize that a lot of ppl who otherwise don't care about having all the bells n' whistles still want a speakerphone.

Yes, even on an entry-level phone. 😕

i completely agree with everything you said - i am with sprint right now and although i love sammies and have long held them to be one of the best manufacturers...but right now i find myself using a Nokia 6225 because it is the only phone for sprint that has everything i want, nothing i don't and in a package i like - i would just rather it be a Sammy with a flip

Sigh... so true. Lack of a speakerphone is why I'm waiting for the Nokia 3155 (or something very like it) to be released for Verizon, rather than getting the Sammy 570. My upgrade date is only 3 weeks away, would've been nice to get something then, instead of waiting and waiting, like I will be. ☚ī¸

Sammy would normally be my 1st choice, since my a530 has been so awesome and dependable. But y'know, Nokia ain't chopped liver either, and if they're willing to step up to the 'entry-level flip with a speakperphone' plate while Sammy won't, well, I'll wait. Still sucks, though.

Before anyone suggests it, no, I'm not really interested in LG, Motorola, Audiovox, or Kyocera.

Jake...What about the N330? It has a speakerphone and the keys do lock when the screen is pushed down, so that's almost like a flip. Have you checked that one out? 🙂 Just wondering!

I looked at it... its nice, but the internal antenna apparently compromises reception, which is important to me. Its also a bit big.

Yeah I'll agree on the size...even though the front/keys are a tad small, the phone is kinda "thick". (Makes it easy to hold onto though!) But regarding the internal attenna, I haven't had any issues regarding that...matter of fact, it gets better reception in my apt than my LG-4500 did...so far my N330 has yet to drop a call! But do hope Verizon comes out with something good for you...think I saw something from Rich that stated VZW has some great phones coming out later this year...3rd/4th quarter? I'd be curious personally myself on what they are.

Yeah, there's supposedly some good stuff coming 3rd/4th Q of this year.

But if the Nokia 3155 doesn't show or somehow is a disappointment, I might just suck it up and reconsider a 570, despite the craptastic lack of a speakerphone... on the plus side, they are dirt cheap ($30 on a 2 yr contract, $60 for a 1 yr) and the model I looked at in Radio Shack felt suprisingly solid in build quality.

Plus it had what looked like (in my admittedly brief viewing) a much nicer screen than the 530 (looked a lot like the 670 screen in fact, even though its supposed to be STN, as opposed to the 670's really nice TFT screen).

The frustrating thing is that the phone is such an entry-level winner, except for the speakerphone thang. :...

Yeah Jake, I hear ya! When I went to RS and looked at one, I really liked the look, color (nice change from silver/chrome) and shape of the phone. It has those nice, round, smooth corner's...felt good in the hand. Has a nice menu too...easy to navigate.

It has more ringtones and wallpapers than my N330, so was considering switching at one point. But got hooked on the size and "pop-up" screen of the N330...and it has that "speakerphone thang" you mentioned!

Never thought I'd use it, but it does come in handy when calling the bank, being on-hold, or if I'm in the car with my partner or friend's and want people to get in on the conversation.

So it would be a toss up I guess! Or be patient and wait!

By the way...do you have any ...

What are you talking about?

The internal antenna doesn't get it any less reception than a phone with it.

Please compare the LG 6100 to the N330. Your in for a big suprise when the Samsung woops is ass.

Again, look at the Samsung MM-A800 for Sprint...best RF of any Sprint phone.

All new CDMA Samsung's will have intennas, so get ready...it's the new revolution in design, and it DOESN'T GET ANY WORSE PERFORMANCE!!

Some 330 owners have complained that the reception, while still decent, isn't what they're used to getting with Samsungs, and they listed the internal antennae as a factor in that... sounds like you have a problem with them, not me.

Is it still better reception than most LGs? Sure, I don't doubt it, that's why I currently have a Sammy (the 530) and not an LG. 🙂
