P777 Impressions and Questions...

Saw the P777 in person the other day. It is a slick and well-built phone. I'm considering it even though it lacks bluetooth and a speaker phone. The screen looks impressive and the colors were dazzling. The slider mechanism was chic and solid feeling. I like!

Info is hard to come by. Someone mentioned that they can receive both ATT and cingular networks on this now. Does this phone then just search for the stronger of the two network signals? Important to me because by my house ATT is strong but Cingular is a little finicky.

Finally, some of the info says no standard 2.5mm earphone jack. What does this have? I use (I think) a standard earbud for my e307. Strangely enough, I sprang for the Samsung one and the quality was terrible. I pul...

I just got this phone yesterday. Some impressions

Great aesthetics....feel, look, display

No BT or speakerphone, proprietary earpiece jack, looks similar to mini-USB but it isn't

Comes with a stereo headset, but for phone use I prefer the earbud that sells separately ($26 Cingular)

Excellent call quality, menu and software unfamiliar to me but still intuitive

I haven't tried the sync yet, will post later 😉

Ahhhh...

Good input is hard to come by. Thanks. I have mine on order. I had played aorund with the phone at Cingular stores.

Not cheap. And as you said, I think it comes with a proprietary headset but I want the earbud. With my 307, I got the Samsung earbud and it was cr@p. I discovered my old Motorola fit, so it was a lot better.

How's your earbud working?

can't you just get an earbud jack adapter from radio shack or something?

i definately plan on getting this phone. i never use bt or speakerphone.

oh also, when taking video, does it record sound as well? i know some of the older video records didn't do this.

I just bought an aftermarket earbud from an independent store. Only $5. I know what they say about 'you get what you pay for,' but we'll see.

BTW, what's the difference or downside (if any) from buying from an independent store. These guys could have sold the P777 with plan for $100 while as a 10 year customer, the best I could do was $299 with Cingular.

I'm wondering the same thing. I found a site that sells the P777 for $250 with a 2 yr plan but also with a $250 rebate, so essentially its free. Wondering if it is legite as getting it from Cingular. Any thoughts?

There are some local agents that seem very professional. Others are 'part time' people who seem to know less--they're also less conversant about the products, but prices are awesome! Somewhere, I saw that agent incentives are pretty good.

Anyway, it's tough to say. I likely paid alot more thorough Cingular, but they also stand behind their stuff.

Let me know what you experience, and GOOD LUCK!

i am pretty sure you can get att reception (are you a former att customer?) cuz since they merge I think the signal of att and cingular combines I think (that's why they have and "all over network"?)
the p777 comes with a stereo earbud, so I dont think you have to go look for one. the quality is really good, although the design is kind of odd.
As for the screen I have had some problems, it freezes on me when i almost fill up the 100 mb with my mp3's
