Treo650 and Cingular plans

I've been told you can get the Treo650 with the media net plan vs. paying for the 49 data plans. Can anyone validate this?

If its still offered with the Treo (Media net) is there any disadvantages? I read that only media net provides WAP type web access but it looked to be tied to the browser of the phone and the treo has a fully compatible html browser.

Thx

this is why i switched to tmobile. tmobile has an unlimited internet plan for $19.99 a month. no hidden BS. in the first month alone i've used 8MB of bandwidth. imagine how much that would be if i stayed with cingular and their internet packages

Yeah if you can find and area where you have coverage. Sorry, but TMobile coverage sucks and why pay for something you can not use. At least I know I can use my treo internet even in remote places.

Well if a rep is telling you that data on a treo is 49.99 they have do not know what they are doing . You want "PDA CONNECT" it is 39.99 unlimited if you have a voice plan and 44.99 if you don't have a voice plan. Tell the rep at the store you goto that "PDA CONNECTS" soc code is PDVU this is the code if you have a voice pack.

I have the Treo 650 and I'm using the media works plan with it. my plan includes 1500 sms, unlimited MMS, and unlimited internet. I'm having no problems using this and neither is a few of my friends. I used this plan with a BlackBerry before getting this Treo 650 recently. As a matter of fact, I'm sending this entry on the web from my Treo 650 now. I have no problem viewing the full internet with Media Works. A customer service rep told me that I could use Media Works with the Blackberry and Treo. I have done so for over a year now. I'm satisfied with paying 19.99 for the media works plan I have versus 39.99 plus for a data plan or Blackberry plan if you have that. trust me, it works. try it for yourself.

What about regular email? Such as Road Runner? Will that work thru Media net?

I'm not sure about Road Runner, by I have no problems with my gmail.com and mail.ru accounts.
BTW check mytreo.net site 🙂 You can get answer for practicaly any question there. Just search the knowledge data base and forum.

Your roadrunner email should work as long as it is POP3, IMAP, Microsoft Exchange, Eudora, or Outlook. My broadband email-comcast-works just fine. I believe that Roadrunner is POP3. You should be able to get the incoming and outgoing servers as well as the port numbers from your ISP. Hope this helps. sometimes that information may be listed under options or settings when you're logged into your email account.

I have no problems what so ever with my emails, internet since I have data connect plan. Just wondering if you can connect directly to your mail server such as road runner (NOT thru a website or webmail) with a Media net plan? I thought you couldn't and that media net is limited compared to data connect. In other words you can do more with data connect (only with proper equipment such as treo and blackberry) Is this not true?

I'm using the Media Works plan and I have used this plan with my Blackberry when I had it. Now, I'm using it with my Treo 650. I haven't had any problems getting my emails or using the Internet either. I connect directly to the server with my Treo and did the same with the Blackberry. When I was with AT&T Wireless, I used a data plan and I see no differences. One of my co-workers has the data plan unlimited and I can do everything he does on his Treo with no problem. there's quite a few people out there that use the Media Works plan on the Treo. As a matter of fact, when I inquired about switching to the dat plan, the CSR at Cingular told me that I didn't need it since I had the Media Works plan already. I asked a rep on another occasion and...

Will the option of getting your e-mails and web still work on your Treo in Canada and other countries?? That makes a big difference to me. Thank you.
