Traveling to Philippines--Do I need to unlock my Treo 650?

I just bought a Treo 650 and had to order it--I should receive it this week.

I'm traveling to the Philippines which is 900/1800 I believe. If I want to buy a Sim Card over there and get a local number, do I need to have my phone unlocked? Until last week I was unfamiliar with the whole concept of unlocking a phone.

Thanks.
