VZW???

I'm new to the Verizon and CDMA world. Does anyone know if this device is planned to be released by VZW? My company is looking at Treo 600s in a switch from ATT to VZW and I don't want to sink the $$ on the 600 and have the 650 available a month later.

Thx.

My source, and it is a very good one, told me that Sprint has all the stock on these phones until March 1st next year. Verizon will have options to sell them around that time.

Treo 650 will be released to Sprint business customers only at first with a market release in Nov or Dec 1st. The unit has reduced BT functions to keep the modem use out.

Hi Guys It looks like Verizon as always is left behind.
I am waiting for years for a good phone with Verizon but looks like I have to wait again. The deal is Verizon best signal Worst Phones Everybody else Best Phones Worst Signal. That is the deal up there. If Verizon would have also the best phones everybody else would be out of business.
😕

On top of everything else, VZW engineers will need an additional 6-12 months to cripple bluetooth functionality and other features to ensure "get it now" revenue is maximized, then run their extensive testing program which never seems to have any relationship to how real people use their phones.

Sounds crappy. Glad I have TMO, looking forward to the bluetooth/modem combo so I can use my portable with it.

Anyone here know when the GSM version launches with TMO?

VZW news!!!!! Release date on the TREO 650 has been bumped back three times now due to functionality problems with the operating system and signal strength quality. Why Sprint has already set a release date is because they love to get the new phones out so people can subscribe to contracts that lock them into crappy service for two years. I mean, why would anyone need a service outside of a central city location or in a building is beyond me. The newest news on the release date for Verizon Wireless is "real real firm" at November 15th along with a new Motorola camera phone and they're pushing to get more phones out before the holiday season. There isn't another carrier that puts their phones through the testing that Verizon does to insure...

😲 Thanks for the update! Could you please provide more information on the Treo 650 release by VZW. Are you sure that your sources are correct? I was going to move to SPCS to get the 650 but if you could provide some proof of this, I would be patient and wait.
Thanks 😛

Let's say the source has known the release and every time it has been bumped back before it got to the tech centers. It's been pushed off now 3 times....this date is Extremely firm.....I can't tell you my source though. it's too high 😈

😁 Thanks again for the good news RT11. I thought Sprint was to get the 650 out first. Now it sounds like Verizon will beat them to it!
Can you share any details on the VZW 650, like color of the case, included software, what types of OS problems they had to fix? Also, any new data plans comming out with the VZW release of the 650?
(a posted pic of a VZW branded Treo 650 would be the biggest scoop of all! 😎)

As much as I'd like to believe this, I'm ultra skeptical. I'm a happy Verizon customer and I have no intention of switching just because of a phone, and it would amaze me if this phone were available before March. Let's hope your source is accurate.

No way will VZW have this phone before March of next year. I am a SPCS customer (service not bad) and have run the gamut looking for info n the T650. I pre-orderd it last week through Palm and I am expecting to have it by next week -

Anyone who believes that Verizon will launch the 650 on or around the 15th, please contact me. I've got some great real estate in S. FL I'd love to sell ya, as well as a bridge in NY. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE! Verizon won't have this phone before 2Q 2005.

For what it's worth, I went into one of the "new" Verizon stores in Circuit City this weekend. I had all intentions on getting the lg 8000, but took a quick look at the treo 600. The rep there asked if I had heard of the 650, which I had. I told him I didn't really want to wait for Verizon to come around releasing it next spring or summer. He told me if I was really interested in the 650, I should wait. "How long?" I asked. All he said was... back at the end of the month."

Now I don't really know what reason he would have to spread false rumor, especially since I was all set at getting the lg. But who knows? If it's not here by the end of November, we're probably looking at a decent wait.

This is per a Palm One employee today on treochat.com...

Nov 09 11:47:07 Availability of the Treo 650 is determined on a per-carrier basis. We have no time frame available regarding Verizon availability. ☚ī¸ 😡 😕 đŸ˜ĸ

You are looking forward to a decent wait. Verizon won't have this phone available this year. I have been with Sprint for 8 years now and although at one time they had shoddy service, they now provide excellent service. in addition, with the roaming agreement they have with Verizon if I happen to need coverage on a remote farm i can still have it. Who needs Verizon? I have a available bridge on the west coast if you don't want the one in the east.

I live and work around 30 miles NW of Chicago and gave up on Sprint earlier this summer. I couldn't get a decent signal in my own backyard and it seemed every other call I made got dropped.....an absolutely miserable experience.

I had Verizon for years and never had a service-related problem. I switched to Sprint for the SOLE REASON of getting a Treo 300. I got sick of carrying around a phone and a PDA all the time.

Unfortunately, Sprint's service was so awful I was forced to abandon it. Switched back to VZW and have had no problems since. ...

this is the reason why the motorola v710 is such a crappy phone cause of the extended testing... right? ☚ī¸

I had 100% decided to go with the Treo600 about 2 weeks before the announcement of the 650 and BAM! As like most people, I know VZWs history on new devices, and I was hanging onto this little tidbit of gossip as my only hope to see the 650 soon... but again, BAM! I was confident because I knew the info on the new Motorola camera phone was correct, but today I found out for sure that there is a new bluetooth enabled PDA about to be released as well, but it ain't the 650 unfortunately. The 6600 (no camera version) will be available in business channel this month, consumer next month.

*Sigh*... I guess I can wait a little longer.... 😕
