Replying to: Is anyone having problems with this phone? by hello_kitty28 Jan 27, 2005, 12:55 PM
I am on my third MM-7400. The first one would not make outgoing calls (even though the Airgate store said they were having network problems and made me deal with it for over a week). The second one's external screen died after 2 months. This one is getting flaky after 5 months and I am going to make Sprint send me either a Sanyo 7500 or a Samsung Blade once they both come out and I make a decision on one of the two. This phone's major strength is its superior signal strength. I have dropped exactly two calls in two months in the Charlotte, NC area. This includes driving and talking all over town, and I have used about 4500 total wireless minutes per month since I moved here. The phone has quite a few drawbacks though. The sound quality is getting terrible on the other end, most voice recognition systems (incl Sprint's) don't recognize much if anything anymore. The speakerphone is worthless for anything other than voicemail and waiting on hold anymore, it used to at least be useable. The T9 logic is defective on this particular phone, as it forgets programmed words all the time --- the other one. The phone will barely charge on a universal charger anymore, I have to tape it to the phone to make a universal charger work. Finally, the rubber on the flip part starts separating from the phone after a few months --- I decided to peel it all the way off because it looked tacky. I recommend it if you need fantastic signal strength, but do beware of its flaws!
