I get this data transfer suite as a gift from my friends,it's a birthday gift! 🙂
I am so surprised this cable and software can do so much more for my phone! What does this software and cable do:
Phonebook data management
Calenday Sync with outlook and outlook express
ringers and images composer, setup to dial up to Internet, and also the cable charges the phone! The quality for this data transfer suite is really nice! You guys should buy one for yourself if you also own a Sanyo MM7400!

I've tried it before, it's really nice. I used to use another similar product called dataplot, now I stop using that because I am in love with my 8512p! 😉

The MA8512P looks interesting, I have seen it on a website for around $28.99. But really, can you connect to the internet with your cell phone with this kit? I have seen in the specs a maximum speed of 115.2kbps for a cellular connection!? Is that true? Would you still need a separate ISP to login? Thanks for any more information you can provide.

It allows you to set up your phone as a modem to sign on Internet...I've tried that before, it's fast and stable.

If you do decide to use your phone as a high speed modem, prepare to pay for it. Sprint has recently launched a "handset as a 3G modem" add-on. Sprint now knows when you are connecting to the internet through your phone with a cable, and not using the media player or built in browser. They will soon be charging 1 cent per KB if you do not have this pricy add-on. @ 1 cent per KB 1 MB will cost you ten bucks!, and just loading a web page can sometimes move 5 MB through your connection. I'm not sure when this program will be starting, but the packages are available in the activation terminal now.

What you use your phone for is your own business. If you use the phone to call a local access number to your own ISP I don't understand how or why Sprint would really care how you use your minutes. How can they realistically prove and go through the full investigation of calling an ISP? Is it stated specifically in anyone's contract that they cannot call ISP's as it will violate their contract, or that they will have to pay for "data" usage?

Yes, you are correct, if you chose to dial into your own ISP, thats cool, it runs at 14.4KBps, and it uses your minutes. You must be unaware that Sprint in itself is an ISP. You can use your phone to use their High speed connection that runs at an average of 144KBps. This service is available with a vision phone, or connection card anywhere on sprints 3G network. Sprint charges for this service with the connection card. The phones were left "unregulated", but the service had been abused, and the data will actually be metered from now on, and they will most certainly know that you are not accessing the vision services with the handset itself. Besides, it states expressly in the terms and conditions

"Vision is not available for use with ...

OK, cool. So you are saying that I have 2 options:

1. Connect using an ISP. I can get one for about $9.95 cheaply, and get 14.4K access then? I just dial the local number, and it counts against my minutes? If I call after 9pm and weekends I get it free right? Does Sprint know I am using the phone to call the ISP and would they charge me for data usage? Would I need to keep Sprint PCS Vision on my plan in this case?

2. Connect using *777. This would then connect to Sprint's direct ISP? I get up to 144K, wow! I've heard the unofficial statement that as long as you use less than 100MB/mo you are OK and Sprint will not hunt you down, as long as you have PCS Vision as part of your plan.

Now, I'm curious if Sprint knows the dif...

Is the MobileAction MA8512P supporting high speed internet access the best current combination or is there a better choice for the Sanyo MM-7400 using Sprint with unlimted vision and data?
