If you consider a no frills phone that is easy to use, has a loud speaker phone, has very good LG build quality and that Verizon has sold probably hundreds-of-thousands of (in the VX3200), garbage than your cell phone ideals are mixed up. Just because it doesnt have a camera or bluetooth doesn't mean its garbage. Theres a very large market for this type of phone, and Verizon is just making another smart business move by bringing this phone out. And as far as the rest of Verizons phones being garbage; true at one point i'd agree we had the "boring" lineup, but its improved greatly and just wait for phones like the Samsung A970! An awsome phone on the best provider, doesnt get any better than that.

Must be lucky to sell only the high end phones.

Verizon will sell a fistful of these phones just because you can change the faceplate.

And they will sell tons of faceplates because most cell phone users are just that, superficial.

Superficiality has a selling point.

I mean, look at those entry level Nokia bar phones from back in the day. Majority of people aren't bothered by the lack of outside caller id displays or how oppressed we are to have a crippled bluetooth phone. They'd rather have pointless customizability with changeable faceplates. So what? Just means less idiots buying up the high-end phones and not knowing how to use them. *shrugs*

What an ignorant statement. Some people don't want the highly advanced phones. This sounds like it would be a great phone for someone who simply wants a phone for use in emergencies. What's wrong with that?

It also seems to me that if a family bought two of these phones, changing the faceplate for one of them would help distinguish between the two.

I seriously doubt many (other than teenagers) would buy this phone for the sole reason of changing a faceplate. However, if most of the people you know are superficial, then your remark is understandable.
