NYCMAL

Anyone have a problem with the phone picking up too much background noise? Anyone got a solution? Granted I live in NYC, the noise capital of the world, but my verizon phone is crystal clear when the buses go by, while all I get is complaints from the other end of the line with this phone on cingular. It is fine when i am indooors!!!

I have the 7100T and had the same complaint. Spoke to T-Mobile blackberry support and they had me change the SIM card, reload the OS, perform a master reset while they deleted its signal from the tower (?). Finally they decided to replace the unit. I just received it yesterday and have not had a chance to ensure it works. Will update later.

I am now on my third unit... and i think that I am going to return it for good. Bought a bluetooth headset, helped a little, but the thing still has a lot of static when i am outdoors. Probably going back to Verizon... when will they get some good phones!

T-Mob replaced my unit and I still have the same issue. Also tried the BT800 w/noise cancel and it helped some. Do the BB7100x have a defect?

I have the 7100g with Cingular and I have not had a problem with background noise. I have had my unit for a month. I use my bluetooth most of the time, but sometimes I use the handset or the speakerphone. I have noticed when I'm near the two-way walk talkie radios that I sometimes receive some intereference like static. Yet, that has only happened a couple of times.

I have a RIM 7100g through Cingular and am experiencing horrible background noise disturbances. After switching phones with a friend to test it out for myself, I decided to return the device(it was that bad!). It is almost as if I am talking on a radio unit with horrible signal quality. More than one person, from several different carriers, have reported this problem when I talk to them with the device. Gonna try the Treo 650.. hope it's worth the money!!

I have a 7100t from T-Mobile. The sound quality is subject to a lot of background noise.
I get a lot of people telling me they cannot understand what I am saying sometimes.
I also carry a Verizon LGVX 7000 and the sound quality difference is unbelievably superior.

I originally started this thread... and had a very similar problem. I kept my Verizon Motorola V60 ,yes it is an antique, but I can be in the busiest crowds and people stil think I am at my desk. There is no comparison. I am a heavy phone user and a moderate BB user. I am just waiting for the better product!!!

When will Motorola have an all in one PDA/ email/ phone?

Check out the MPX220. Flip phone with Windows Mobile. It has had a few small issues but should be fixed with the newest software release. Cingular currently has the phone on backorder until the new firmware version is released. Also check out the A635, QWERTY keyboard on a powerful phone with camera, bluetooth, speakerphone. Cingular doesn't have it yet, but you can find on ebay.
