Has anyone out there had their hands on one of these? The articles have not been too favorable regarding the keyboard. I was hoping someone could let me know how the "Sure-type" really works. Meaning does it work well in normal business or personal use. Or just quick chats.

IF anyone gets to play with one please post your thoughts

The SureType has 35000 words in its dictionary.. and it also remembers the words you type such as names, streets, so forth after you enter them twice.. AND it recognizes your typing patterns.... so i would say it should work out pretty good.. i played with one.. but i was listenin to the Blackberry guy rather than tryin to type a message

I've used it. I like it. With only two letters per key, it's very rare that it guesses the wrong word. But it does happen occasionally, so you do need to keep an eye on the screen. It's still definitely much better than T9.

When it does guess wrong, the alternate words are displayed in a nice big box right below the cursor, and there's a "next" button on the keypad, so it's quick and easy to make the correction.

Plus it seems to pay attention to every action you take and adapt for the next time. So if you select some words more often than others, (among a group that are spelled the same on that keypad,) the most common one automatically becomes the default, for example.

Rich -

For someone that has been using the Blackberry for 2 years, and send a dozen or more emails per day, is it easy to get used to typing on the new style keyboard or is it a whole new learning curve? I type very quickly with two thumbs and don't look at the screen that often while typing. If I have to look at the screen periodically it sounds like it would be less intuitive and would slow down typing.

I'm anxious to play with one of these myself.

Been using for 3 days now, pretty great! I used a 7230 BB for the past 4 months and loved that too. I like the keyboard better on the 7230 and the battery life better on the 7230 too. But the 7100 has speaker and bluetooth which is what i was waiting for.

Yes, I have used the 7100t for several days now and am finding the keyboard to take some getting used to as compared to the qwerty keyboard on my last Blackberry. However, the smaller phone kinda makes up for that shortcoming. MY ONE BIG PROBLEM IS THAT IS IF YOU USE THE PHONE FOR BUSINESS, AS I DO, BE PREPARED TO CARRY YOUR CHARGING CABLES BECAUSE THE BATTERY IS VERY, VERY LIMITED. Ex: with a full charge, making on phone call that lasted for 58 minutes, using a Jabra Freespeak 250 Bluetooth earpiece, I noticed upon hanging up that the battery charge symbol was down almost 50%. Blackberry better do something about this and FAST.

Went without Bluetooth this afternoon, 8-10 calls, and unit seemed to not use so much battery. However, tomorrow, Monday, is one of my busiest days and Bluetooth will definitely be in use. Will see what happens then. Have yet to use web access or emails.
