connecting the phone's mp3 player to a stereo

I just got a set of monster cables and an headset adapter for my 8940. The adapter was needed cuz the headphone hole in the phone is smaller than standard ones. I plugged it into my stereo and it worked, the only problem is the headphone jack keeps slipping out of the phone, so i have to prop something up against it to keep it playing on the stereo. I was wondering if anyone had tried the same thing with more success, and if so, how did you do it (what brand of smaller headphone adapter did you use?)

I tried adaptors from Radio Shack and had the same problem with the plug slipping out of the jack. However, even when it did stay in and played through the stereo, I was only getting mono sound out of the right speaker. After looking at it closer, I think that the end of the tip of the plug is the right audio channel, the second tipring is the microphone input, and the third ring is the left audio (for stereo). My thought was to buy a cheap stereo earbud set and cut the wires and splice them to the standard RCA plugs to go to the stereo. Any thoughts on that? Or does anybody sell an adaptor with the 3 tip input?

I had the same experience. Occasionally, the jack would somehow stay in the phone at times, but it would be mono sound, i thought maybe i had plugged the to audio cables into the wrong ones (red into the white one and white into the red) but when i switched them i it just played out of the other speaker. I think i sort of know what youre suggesting...but im a little confused. Which tipring is which that you are referring to? Also what did you mean by cheap stereo earbud set? I'm going to do a little research on this today. I'm gonna go to radioshack and see if they have that adapter with the three tip input, also im going to try my friends ipod on my stereo with the adapter that i already have. He has the adapter for the car stereo, an...

Bought an adapter (#274-373, 1/8 " to regular, $3.99), and a regular 1' extension cable ($2.99) to connect from the adapter to my car cd player.
Like you guys, I also tried to connect them directly and only got mono sound (right speaker), and the adapter was also slippery.

I played them around today and accidently found that I'll get stereo sound if I only plug the cable into the adapter halfway! You can try to move it around to find the perfect position of the cable into the adapter. Then I fixed the connection by tape.

More exciting is that we can actually plug the adapter into the cellphone fully without slipping out problem. The only thing you need to do is to pull the earbud cover away when you plug in the adapter. Just be caref...

Do a search on ebay for audiovox stereo adapter. There are 3/32 to 1/8 stereo plugs specifically designed for this.
