I'm a newbie to high tech cell phones but have done a bunch of research on them. I've basically narrowed it down to 2 phones, the SE s710a or the Nokia 6230i. The pros (versus the Nokia) on the SE are the design and screen size. The pros (versus the SE) on the Nokia are more memory than the SE and an FM radio. My requirements for a phone are bluetooth, camera, data-capable, EDGE, music player and wireless internet. I would really like it to have FM radio but could live without. I would also like to use it in conjunction with a laptop computer eventually so any features that would help with that are pretty important.

the s710a is a sweet phone, definately a better screen and camera. i just switched to the 6230 because of reception and memory limitation. i got a 1 gig card for my 6230 and i am very pleased. i can even use my phone in my apartment! the cool factor is definately higher with the 710, but in the end, i switched back to nokia.

I've owned both, and I like the 710 better. The 6230 has a poor quality and smaller screen in comparison. The camera has a significantly lower resolution. The Sony's camera is so nice that I find myself taking pictures of things just because I have the camera with me at all times. The swivel is 'interesting' on the Sony. It works fine and for most functionality, I don't need to open the phone which is nice. Reception with both phones was similar, but I found it to be slightly better with the Sony (SoCal). The Nokia was lighter, smaller, and the software to sync it to a PC was much better. The Sony will sync, but it's not as well put together as Nokia's software. The battery on the Nokia will last longer. The Sony needs charged at l...

depends what u r looking for...they r both great phones but i prefer the nokia. yes the sony has a better/bigger screen and the camera is awesome. I also liked the software...contact organization, menu etc. But i like the nokia because of the more technical stuff like Class 10 EDGE( with sony i couldnt connect sometimes and its very slow) RF is 100x better...thats what i use my phone for most times...connection to web and using to make calls so i like the nokia based on that..i can deal with the small screen and vga camera. plsu nokia is smaller and easier to manage..oh and i dont like the swivel at all and the memopry limitation on the sony

Then nokia 6230 had software issues that could not be fixed. Cingular actually discontinued it for that very reason. Be warned...
