I just recently found a cingular branded ericsson s710a. I currently have cingular and thought that I would try to put in my sim card and use the phone. After inserting my sim card the phone asks for a phone lock code. Can anyone tell me if I can reset that or do I have to order a data cable and have that done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is your Sim Card Cingular Branded? Or were you former ATT with an ATT simcard? If you have a cingular branded simcard you might need to go get one of the new universal sims(there used to be different sims for different markets). If you have an ATT sim card, there are places all over the web that you can goto to get it unlocked, just do a google search. If you are former att, cingular will not do it for you unless you "migrate" and are active on a new plan for 90 days or longer.

You should be able to just go into any cingular location and get a new sim... You might have to pay for one at an agent location, so I would goto a corporate cingular store if you can. your phone should be working fine.. If you can avoid a gemplus sim(thats the manufacturer) I see more problems with those ones going bad then I do the others (oberthur or axalto). If a new sim doesnt fix it, maybe a defective one ☹️
