You sure can. Infact the only reason I even open the phone is to text or dial manually. Other than that you can leave it closed allthe time!

Yes, you don't need to open the phone to answer a call, just press "answer" ...

yeah.... the only time it is ever necessary to open the phone is if you want to type in digits. or in a game or possibly on the the app features where the digit buttons are you for something other that typing in a number. like i dled a pool game and you have to 0 to change the spin on the ball, etc... with the fone closed, you can access every menu, play games, make and recieve calls, play mp3s, etc.. etc.. etc.. the only time i ever open my phone is to either use game options or save a new number.. its awesome!
