yes. it lags. but its not unbearable. The pluses to this phone outweigh the lag bigtime. I had a motorola v500 and it lagged...

ive been reading on howardforums.com about a firmware update for the s710 that aleveates the menu lag. The most up to date firmware version is r2a016, unfortunately i have r1a033. If ive read everything correctly, the firmware update can be sent OTA (over the air) and should be out soon for cingular customers.

I couldn't figure out how or where to put in those symbols. Could you explain a little more in depth please for the technically challenged, like me 😁 and also, how can I tell how much free memory I have available on the phone itself as well as the memory card? Much thanks in advance.

You need to do this on the idle screean, where your backround is displayed and it shows the time and date.

lol, i did it right, but never messed with the menu because i thought it was a menu for AIM 😳

lol, yeah i have r1a033 right now. I hope there is a way to do a software update over the air, or maybe SE will put it online so we can download it and update our phone through IR, or BLuetooth...

As far as I know the only way Sony Ericsson had done firmware updates i by sending the phone into them. Firware updates unfortunately can not be done via Bluetooth or IR, but only a specific type of data cable. But even IF you have th cable, getting the firmware is another story!

From what i have read, the firmware update can be done OTA from a carrier (cingular). However, there are places you can send it to have it flashed. ive seen it for $30 and it also takes away any "branding".

as far as i know there are only 2 ways to get it. Send it in to a 3rd party who will flash it for you ($30+ship from what ive seen) or if cingular corporate decides to update your firmware OTA (over the air). To my knowledge it is jus something they have to do, you cant request it be done. Correct me if im wrong, PLEASE!!!
