I can't type in a web address!

I got my contest phone a few days ago and I have been looking for hours on how to type in a web address. Being stubborn it took me 2 days to finally open the manual to find out. It says that when you are browsing go to More--Enter Address--then type it in. But on my phone "Enter Address" is not an option. I called SonyEricsson and they said Cingular removed that option so you can only browse MEdia Net and that there are no software updates that can change it back. Anyone with the same problem? solution? thanks

You have to send yourself a text message with it as a link - then you can bookmark the link.

That really does suck....

I almost can't believe Cingular would have SE do such an idiotic thing! I've never heard of them doing this on any other phone - why start now on THIS phone?!?! I can halfway understand when they have the "network selection" option removed from almost all their phones, but this?!?!?! They're already raping people @ 3 cents/kb under the new plans, so why the hell should they care what web addresses you go to??? 👿

I'm still excited about the phone (& hoping mine comes in today) but this is a bit of a disappointment.

BTW: Thanks Pyro for giving us a way around the problem. Its a shame that this is what we have to do to get around it, but at least there IS a way around it (although sending yourse...

As it has always been on SE phones...there is no way to input a url into the phone...basically all you have to do is go to your bookmarks, create a new one...and input the url there...it is also saved as a bookmark then...or create a bookmark with google saved as the bookmark.....abd do your web searches from there then

Same here, I can input URL's on my T637. My father can on his P910 and I could on my old T610 and T68i.

I'm considering installing another web browser from handango's site. Its called Reqwireless WebViewer. Any suggestions or comments on this one? Check it out at http://www.reqwireless.com/webviewer.html

It's only 51k! This should let me type in a web address and hopefully browse html sites. Don't care too much about that part but its a plus and it should be quick with class 10 EDGE!

Please reply!

I have that browser and I'm happy with it as it works just fine. The only thing that bugs me is that I don't know how to (or if it's even possible to) increase the amount of memory alloted for cache as I sometimes get a "low memory error" and the page gets truncated even though I have several MB of memory availible on my phone! 😡 You'll be happy to know that the browser has a dedicated shortcut for entering URLs and it's super-easy to bookmark pages 😉

It's even easier than that.

From the browser (connect to MEdia Net just to start the browser even if you don't want to use MEdia Net) hit the right "More" soft key, select Bookmarks, then select New Bookmark.

You can enter a URL there and as a bonus it will be saved in your bookmarks along with whatever name you select for the bookmark and you can use it again in the future without having to re-type it.

It isn't a straightforward as a simple "Go To URL" option, but once you've done it you'll find it's just as simple and actually more useful since it saves each URL you go to.
