S710a and BestBuy?

Does anyone know if BestBuy will be selling the s710? I've got a 3 year service plan with them and could use a "replacement" for my "defective" phone 😈 .

I'd suggest calling up your local Best Buy and asking them. As far as I know, we have no Best Buy employees in here.

No, its called a "service plan." If anything happens to the phone they typically replace it with a phone of the same initial value. I bought a $300 samsung about a year ago and its beginning to "malfunction" through no fault of my own 😈 .

It expires in May and I might as well get another $300 credit towards a phone, esp. the s710a!!!

Ah, I never bother with their service plans - I used to work for CompUSA many moons ago and hated trying to sell those.

Dude....you're a genius. I forgot you could do that...I once bought a phone from Best Buy and got the service plan...they upgraded my phone when it...um...err...defected. I forgot that you could use that. Hmm...with that being said, Best Buy will 'insure' pda phones that Cingular won't (treo 650), huh?

p.s. You get 4 cool points for the day.

I used to work for best buy and had 3 "defective" phones in 6 months with my service plan. Yeah since Cingular won't insure them, through lockline insurance, this is the best way to ensure that your $400-600 investment will alway be covered... unless your best buy is like a lot and they try and deny everything. As long as the phone doesn't have a water spot on it try getting it wet then drying it off, that worked on 2 of my 3.

Funny you mention water.

My last job I was the network admin / PC fix it guy. One of my co-workers dumped a full can of soda into her thinkpad laptop. Dumped most of the soda out, took it home, dismantled it stuck the parts in the wash (no heated dry) let it sit for a few days, re-assemble and the machine worked fine.

Sent an e-mail to IBM support suggestiong that they ad a little blurb to their machines saying they are dishwasher safe. Got a response from one of the head ppl at tech support who loved the story and posted in their break room.

Okay...so this story really has nothing to do with the phone...or any phone but it's entertaining!

I've done that with really gooky keyboards, just have to make sure it dries really well. 😎

Exactly. I left the motherboard sitting for about a week just to make sure.
