DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!

mpawa

Dec 20, 2004, 4:20 PM
I work for Cingular and I'm telling you, DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE....it freezes allot, software looks like there is a bug. they had us re test this phone alot of ***times but keeps freezing ( slow transfer from screen to another)...Don't ask me about the release date, god knows when..this company has spent alot of money on commercials and still not sure which phones and when to launch. alot of phones already listed!!!! I have the flip phone motorola v620, 256k colors, vga camera an many more features from Cost co for $299.99 with no contract and if you don't like the phone for any reason, you get your money back, 100% satisfaction guaranteed.. :-)

I dont understand how such big problems could occur with this phone if it is based off of the s700i which seems to have none of these problems.

Any ideas?

yea i have a idea, this is bullshyt, lets jus wait untill the phone release's and find out, or atleast don't do anything untill we have some concrete information. It makes no sense to what this guy is claming unless he had some defective model, so lets jus get or hands on one and see for ourselves, if it is a dud its a dud but i seriously doubt it.

i read on the mobileburn review of the s700i/s710a that the menu's change a little slowly, but he said it was fine, no biggy. and cingular does a 30 day return on every phone and plan, so we'll know it is bad or return it, simple as that. the only bad thing i see about this phone is that a) it is a little thick. and b) you can accidentaly do things while it is in your pocket because it has exposed buttons. but boohoo, it will still pwn and if there are any probs we'll see at its release.

I read that it has a switch to lock all the keys.

And here's a crazy idea.... MAYBE it's taking so long to release the phone because they are working on the bugs, that's if there even are any. That dudes screamin' don't buy the phone and the thing hasn't been released yet. And he tells us to go with a Moto instead. Personally, Motorola's are by far the most craptastic phones I've ever handled, but that's just my own personal opinion about them. So maybe the menu's might be a little slow, maybe he's just not patient and is completely over exaggerating it. Like some people have said on here, let's wait til the thing comes out (if ever from the looks of it), then state our opinions on how screwed up the phone is. My friend already ...

I thougt that the S700 would not work good for america becuase it has 900/1800/1900 signal....i thought america only uses 850 .....does 900 work good???

T Mobile uses 900/1800/1900, Cingular uses 850/1800/1900. I asked my friend is she's ever had any signal problems, she said not at all. Maybe a dropped call every few months, but past that her T Mobile service is excellent.

I have played around with an S700, which is *basically* the same thing as the S710, the differences being the different bandwidths and the EDGE/Radio. These problems you talk about, I did not experience with the S700. Maybe you experienced these problems because the S710 you handled was not the final product? That could be more than possible. Maybe that's why it hasnt been released yet?

And...... LOL, you're trying to tell me that you've never been wrong once in your life? Lay off the pipe.

OTIVA is the system Cingular employees use to see when we will recieve new equipment into our warehouse. The date that it reads for the S710a is 01/14/2005. this is when the first shipments will show up in the ware house. that was moved from 12/31/2004. is that concrete enough for ya. πŸ™‚

Man, this board is getting harsh! Anytime someone offers up something as 'fact' you guys all practically castrate them for concrete proof. How do you get proof of a date you saw on a computer screen? Does he have to take a photo of the screen and e-mail it to everyone??

Granted, i've got no clue WHEN the phones will really show up and maybe he does or he doesn't. Doesn't change that when the phones get here - we will all know and go running to check them out.

Please though, TRY and be a little courteous. For me. ;-)

People come on here stating things all the time. Unless you have something to back it up with to make it even remotely concrete, even if its uncertain, have something to back it up with or dont bother saying it all. We all know how people like to bullsh*t.

Dec 31, 2004, 11:19 AM
Okay, so what IS acceptable 'concrete evidence' in this case? Would he have to sneak into the warehouse and photograph everything there showing the phones weren't there? I'm just confused what kind of concrete evidence anyone can realistically provide about something not being here until mid-January.

Here you go buddy, here's the email we got.

Topic: Merchandising Alert... Do not use the Point-of-Purchase displays for this device until the handset launches.

Date: 12-17-04

Overview: The launch of the Sony Ericsson S710 has been delayed due to technical issues. This handset will not be available until after the Post Holiday Promotion begins. The handset team is expecting technical acceptance in late December.

HQ was not able to pull the POP for the S710 from the Launch Kits, as they are already packaged and set for delivery the week of December 27th. Therefore, it is imperative pull and DO NOT use this handset POP in-store until launch. Please do not discard, as we can use it when the handset launches in January.

Another words you have no clue what they could do to make you believe them, right?

Please...I just want to know what acceptable forms of evidence are in case I get some inside info on a phone in the future.

As far as any website forum - I very rarely believe the stuff touted as fact. I give them all the chance they could be true but honestly, doesn't really matter. If the phone doesn't drop today I know some people were wrong reporting it would show up "the week of the 27th"

If you work for Cingular why are you buying a phone at Costco? I work for Costco and they only sell Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Why would you not get the free phone from Cingular and the free dealer plan? I think you are a fraud and know nothing about this phone.

Thanks for playing!

Guys,
I will give a little advice, wait atleast few weeks after the release. its defected and they havn't cleared the bugs.unless u have extra money to spend and don't care, go ahead and buy it hoping that you wnot have any problems with the phone.

Happy new year to all of you!

As the guys said, "GET OVER IT" am not saying not to buy it but you can wait 1 week, beleive me this phone is not worth it. About the 30 days return/xchange policy, haa...u will have to pay charges beside the plan price so its not 100 % risk-free...guys u have to read the small font at the bottom of the 2 year contract that cingular will have u to sign where it says "some sticktly charges apply" πŸ˜‰ End of story, cingular is making that up in purpose just to get as many people they can so they can sell a huge amount in the first week this phone is announced if not the first couple of days...i think u all can figure the money that they'll make selling these phones, they are expecting to sell out first few days and then when buyrs realize...
