Anyone think this is a horrible design?

😈

This looks like the slider dipped in white chocolate, with a boxy look. Im sorry but I think this is a step backward. WTF?

I was starting to get impressed with our new handset offerings, but this is just bad news.

Now if they were to offer a black version like their matrix phone, it might look halfway decent. But white, uugh 😡

The thing to remember is that alot of times, what you see here is not necessarily the color that it will end up. I agree though, white is a little weird-almost any other color will work.

I think the design is OK, but I agree that the prototype color sucks. Sprint sold a Sanyo 8100 that was pinkish-white... it was hideous but the pimps snapped them up.

The samsung rep was so excited when telling me about this phone. He made it sound like it would be the greatest thing since sliced bread. The only question I have after seeing the phone is how how the rep even got that job.

That's what I first thought when I saw the FCC docs, and you're right about how prototypes often have weird (not final) plastics.

But in this case... white is what Samsung was showing off at a recent media event in NYC:

...and white is the color in the official publicity photo that Samsung has been distributing to media. This is that photo:

The whole Pac-Man thing was added by Samsung people - I didn't put that there.

Ok, I think we all agree about the design flaw, with the color of white and the spring loaded design. What about the phone itself. What do you all think. Personally, I do not see anything special about the phone that might attract me to it. I am not an advocate of bar phones, although this is probably under unique design. This screen is going to be in a lot of trouble for the person who bangs into things often. The screen is pretty decent, being an LCD and all, and the simple fact that it will be equiped with CDMA2000 is nice. Besides that, I do not see what is so special about the phone. Anyone care to enlighten me or agree?

Trust me, it could be lots worse, if you had seen it with other colors (like light yellow...) It is really nothing special - it's a slide phone (while it's not the first one) and it has speaker (again, it's not new either). I think Samsung just wants to enrich their entry-level phones.

I've seen it in person and used it briefly. I think the screen design actually helps it be more durable, not less. It's very sturdy and solid-feeling when it's closed. You have to press both release buttons to open it, so it's hard to open accidentally.

I don't think there's supposed to be anything "special" about it; it's certainly not intended to be a flagship model. This is a low-to-mid-tier model, targeted at people who want a "fun and unique" phone.

So it will be the phone that Verizon hypes as a free one after rebate and tries to cell to the public who can care less about features. This is certainly not the phone for me. I just picked up the V710 on my newne2. I am elated with it. If this will be a staple of the new low end phones however, I think we are in for a good new generation of phones. The thing is, seeing as how VZW just got a plethora of new phones, its going to be a while till we see many new ones.

this phone would be soooooo much better if it had a camera. i saw it and luved it although it wuzent gray or black. but then i looked closer and read that it had no camera. i really would want a slide phone with a camera and preferably video capturing abilities. ne1 no one for verizon that isnt the audiovox one cuz i dont like that
