Free transfer of ringtones?

i downloaded a midi ringer from brewbackups & sent it to my samsung 890 using the email method to vzwpix. the transfer works fine - the midi file is in my phone, i can hear it play, and it's saved in "my sounds" but when i try to set it as a ringtone it gives me the msg "cannot assign non-drm content as ringer." is it the midi file that's the prob? or is it the samsung? or something else? i hear that the lg vx8000 and audiovox 8940 can set the ringtones, so what's up w/the samsung?

DMR means that Verizon and the Record Industry locked out all ringtones that are not encoded a certian way. So what that means to you and me is that all new phones with DMR content can only BUY ringtones from get it now. If you upload ringers you can only hear them but not set them as the ringer. Im sure at some point people will figure out how to by pass this, but right now we are basically screwed. Thanks Verizon!
