Hello! I'm curious about some things on the v551 and have surfed the forum and still have questions. Please answer any and all you can.

1- Speakerphone: I read somewhere that you can now activate the speakerphone before the call is connected (unlike in v400 where you had to wait for it to connect, i.e. the person answer, and then activate it, which sometimes took a few seconds and I've had ppl hang up on me before I could talk). Is this correct? You can tell it to dial using the speakerphone function? I hope so..should've been this way from the beginning on the v400, etc.

2- Battery life: I read different posts and get different answers. Some say it last less than 24 hours, some several days with heavy use. What gives? Does it...

Hei, Mark!

Yes, the speakerphone can be activated before the call is connected. It basically means that as soon as you press the send button and only after that, the speakerphone button is available. I don't really understand what you mean by "You can tell it to dial using the speakerphone function?" So I cannot answer this question...

Battery life depends on the fact if you keep the Bluetooth on or off. I have Acura TL with handsfree link which automatically connects to the phone if the Bluetooth is on. So to me is more convenient to keep it on instead of manually connect every time I enter the car. Anyway, if Bluetooth is constantly on, the battery lasts 15-20 hours, that's all. If you have it off - not more then 2-3 days (dep...

Guess I should have said "can you tell it...". What I meant was is the speakerphone able to be turned on before the person you're calling answers. And you answered that for me, so that's what I needed. I hate that, on my v400, you have to wait until they pickup to press speaker, and I've experienced a delay sometimes that, in a couple of cases, the person I had called hung up because they didn't hear me talking and I didn't know they'd answered. Glad they fixed this problem!

I have to charge my v400 every night. I have gone without charging it, but by the end of the day the second day it was nearly down completely and I don't like having a low battery. Better safe than sorry; never know what's going to happen. So I charge mine ever...

Any other comments / input from other folks? I want as many responses as possible since it seems some things vary by specific phone (within the v551 model).

i have had the v551 since it was released by cingular. as for the speakerphone Alex9691 covered it dead on. i do not use bluetooth so i cannot comment on this feature. as for the battery. i have to recharge every 3-4 days. i am not a very heavy voice user. i do spend a lot of time playing games and surfing the web and downloading different content. i also use a lot of MMS features. i totally recommend this phone.
