Thanks for the headsup - I'll probably order today. However, I hear Cingular is rolling out some new plans 11/16, and the 1,000 anytime minutes w/ rollover plan for $39.99 will be going away. Any idea what the news plans are?

As far as I know they're not changing....they're just advertising it differently.

I just called Cingular this morning, and they said the phone won't be available until after the 15th. It isn't online yet either. I know the Samsung e317 was available in stores a few days before it showed up online, so maybe stores will get the phone this weekend. If not, hopefully it will be available everywhere after Monday!

Really?? Where do you live? Maybe it's just not available for my area yet. I'm in San Francisco.

Washington, DC.

P.S. -- In my area, the $50 rebate is also good for a 1 year contract. Did not realize this until afterwards -- I went for the 2 year thinking I'd save $50....

I also just called telesales and they flatly said no to V551 availability and the rep had no idea when it was coming in...I guess I'll keep trying next week...

I'm in San Francisco. They didn't have the phone out on display yet, but they just got them in and sold me one.

And by the way, I love it so far!

I called Cingular Telesales, they said they had the phone available but for $149.99 with a 2 year contract, $199.99 without. Does that sound right? He said he didn't know about any rebates... 😕

All of cingular rebates are found here.

Just look for your region, with a recent date. For example, current DC/Baltimore rebates are here, include $50 off the V551 even with just a 1 year contract:

Excellent, thanks for the info. My phone should be coming in early next week, can't wait! Unfortunately, the Los Angeles area only offers one of those Visa Rebate Cards, so I have no choice but to spend the money, instead of actually using it towards the cost of the phone. There were also some super wazoo deals on wireless sites I saw, of course, afterwards. As low as $49.99 after rebates as opposed to the "$99.99" from telesales.

The 1,000 anytime mins for 39.99 does not come with phone to phone it cost extra, doesn not come with nights and weekends so the 1,000 anytime mins really is a 1000 ALL you get mins. I think it is a bit of flase advertising when they also say in their advertising that any plan that is 39.99 and above gets phone to phone although i belive the nights and weekends re for the 49.99 and up plan.
