Does anyone know if the voice dialing is going to be dependent or independent dialing?

Well if you go to the info page for the 551 and click on voice dial whis is what it says.
There are two types: speaker-dependent (recorded) and speaker-independent (recognition).
With speaker-dependent, voice dial entries must be explicitly created by speaking and recording the name 1-3 times. The phone will only respond to recorded names, and usually only when spoken by the same person who recorded them.
With speaker-independent voice recognition, no recording is required. The name can be spoken by anyone, and the phone will automatically match the spoken name with the closest name entered in the phone book.
So will it have that???

I'm assuming it's going to be the same as all the other motorolas.....speaker dependent.

Are you for sure? If so that SUCKS bigtime. Whats with phone companies scrimping on so called extras and then acting like their phones are the bomb and it is the best thing since sliced bread???

Most likely....the software layout is practically the same as the V400/V600, so I don't see why the voice dialing would be different...Motorola isn't THAT advanced, sadly to say. ☹️

I dunno about that... The Moto V710 has excellent "speaker independent" voice recognition technology built into it. One of that phones few "redeeming" features (amongst several bad ones)...

i just quit cingular and rumor has it the phone will be released in about 1month or sooner. depending on availibility.. i just got one today about an hour ago i won a sales contest before i quit and it was shipped straight from moto it is on ebay for sale. i dont have cingular service anymore.. 😁

I am watching the 16 on eBay right now. The prices are almost fair. One guy had one on there starting at $450 with $475 Buy It Now. He must really like the phone. The auction is over and he got to keep it. 🤣
