Cingular WAP and Browser settings?

I see from below someone got it working...but I can't seem to get anywhere. I have wap settings that seem to connect through GPRS but the browser cannot open anything. I thought it might be a DNS issue but I can't open direct ip addresses either. Can someone give me thier browser settings and maybe confirm their WAP settings for me.

You must have your WAP settings for this to work. If not then see about 2 posts above this one.

Hit your message icon at the top-->Options-->Service Setup-->Multimedia Message-->Under default profile hit the folder icon-->Options-->New...

Here is what I entered in my settings:
Profile Name: MMS
MMSC: wap@cingular.com
Network Profile: Media Net (or whatever you used to set up your WAP settings)
WAP Gateway: 66.209.11.61
Port Number: 9201
WAP Gateway 2: 0.0.0.0
Port 2: 0

If it wasnt for you posting the WAP settings I wouldnt have been able to figure out the MMS so thank you! If you find out anything else cool about this phone post them up because it looks like me and you are the only ones that post on this page. If you find anywhere to get some programs let me know because I have been looking all over the place and cant find any...

Hmm no I havent had any trouble. Could it be the person on the other end's carrier? What carrier does the other person use? Im actually going to get rid of this phone. After spending a few days with it, Ive noticed that the flip feels cheap and could break at anytime. And I also found out my phone doesnt have EDGE or any sort of instant messaging protocol. So if anyone is interestd in this phone make sure it comes in a silver box. The ones in the gold box do not have EDGE and IM and have an outdated firmware.

Yeah, cant be their carrier, they use cingular/att as well. I cant believe the version you had gotten didnt have EDGE! The version i have has no IM built in, but is at least EDGE capable. Just to let you know, i have used mine now for at least two months and the only problem with the flip has been that it starts to get scratched up near the top where the hinge is. When you are talking on the phone while it is open it pushes the hinge too far back and hits the outside of the phone.

It seems like we have some experienced users on this thread. Question: I receieved my A780 a few days ago. The box it came in was "gold", and all in Asian language. How do I determine if it is "Edge" capable? Also, I currently have it working on my T-Mobile service. Do any of you know the similar WAP settings for T-Mobile to enable e-mail and Internet as you outlined earlier in this thread for Cingular? Help is most certainly appreciated.

does anyone know what this means?

in the setup screen for SMS Service Setup, you can select GPRS (yes/no). i assume that means you can potentiall choose to send sms over the datalink? if so, does anyone know how to do that ?

is 66.209.11.61 the gateway for every cingular user or is that a location specific ip address?

for instance with my sprint phones my wap gateway primary is 68.28.153.76 (indianapolis) and my secondary is 68.28.145.76 (detroit) -- i would assume for issues of latency that there are a variety of possible gateways to use -- do you know if that 66.209.11.61 is for a particular area or is it nationwide?

i have not been using my 780 with cingular, but do have access to a cingular sim which I could use to do some tests. if you guys know anything more about those addresses i would love to know -- I work for sprint and know their system very well, but have no idea about the cingular network. thanks for any help

The gateway Ip address for cingular is a nationwide address. To my knowledge cingular uses a third party vendor for our server that runs out of dallas. In all of our devices our secondary gateway is always listed as 0.0.0.0 and the secondary port is always listed as 0.

hope this sheds some light on your question.

I followed your instructions for the WAP and Browser settingd and the MEdia Net page opens up, showing the links for weather, sports, news & finance, etc. But when I tap any of those links, I get the msg that the file i.xhtml was not found. Suggestions for a solution will be appreciated.

I have a Motorola A780 phone, but I've been having trouble getting the browser to work. (I am a Cingular customer.) I have configured everything - at least I think I have. At this point, I am able to log onto the MediaNet homepage, but am not able to go any further. I get an error message reading: The file i.xhtml was not found. I have no idea what this file is or how to get it installed on my phone. If anyone knows about this and is willing to help me out, please let me know. I'd greatly appreciate your help. 🙂

I have, though, been able to get the Yahoo home page to work successfully; I've even been able to navigate through the website using such features as Messenger and checking Yahoo email. I haven't, however, been able to get any ...
