Just to let everyone know...

I got the WAP and MMS to work flawlessly. Took about 5 - 10 minutes to set up. The Opera browser this phone comes with is fully functional.

I haven't set up the POP email yet. I hear peopl have some issues. I use Gmail and you can goto www.gmailwireless.com to sign up to access your gmail account from any wap browser. Works pretty good too. =)

So don't hesitate to buy this phone becuase people claim they can't use it. As long as you have your correct WAP and MMS settings for your carrier you will be fine.

By the way I set it up on Cinguar =)

Just wanted to let everyone know it works!!! =) 😉

Regarding e-mail...
I read somewhere that there's a problem with DNS not resolving POP servers.
I set mine up by entering the server's IP address , and POP3 mail works fine.

I am not to worried about is as I use Gmail. I set the OPera browsers home page to gmail.com. I also told it to remember me. So every time the browser opens up I don't even have to sign in , it just shows me my current in box.

As for the Ip of the server... I use gmail. So would I need to use the IP of www.gmail.com , or the IP of pop.gmail.com?

Just in case I want to use that feature..

thanks

You'd need to put in the IP of pop.gmail.com for incoming and the IP address of smtp.gmail.com for the outgoing.

I'm trying to no avail to get email working through t-mobile.

I have no problem using the opera browser to get to web pages. And I can go through the web to get email, however I cannot seem to get the email client to work.

I've made sure all the settings are the same as though I'm using a email client on my computer but I always get the error: "Host not found"

Trying to find out if t-mobile is blocking the port ends in failure because t-mobile tech support is AWFULL.

to those who have gotten this to work could they post some more detail concerning the settings?

Finally got mail to work! You need the ACTUAL IP ADDRESS (xx.xxx.xxx.xx), etc. One specific (number) IP address for the "Send"/SMTP setting and one for the "Receive"/POP3 or IMAP setting. Then it will work flawlessly. Social-engineer it if you have to get it from a larger provider; that's basically what I had to do for a couple of my email accounts.

Also, downloaded a browser by Reqwireless that is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in combination with the speed of EDGE with this phone. After I set up the web access with this phone using the Opera browser, it really only showed/allowed content through mMode (ATTWS), which is piddly compared to what the A780 is capable of. Reqwireless Webviewer (reqwireless.com) looks literally just like on a PC monitor ...
