Is Verizon Left out the loop again?

Not unless they convert their entire network from CDMA to GSM.

oh, so i guess i have to look forward to only CDMA phones. But can they just change the format on the phone itself?

That they can't do, but they can beg and bribe Motorola to! However on the serious side, no they cant change it from GSM to CDMA. I doubt they will ignore the CDMA market. Eventually there will be some kind of equivalent to this phone.

CDMA carriers are just starting to get phones with bluetooth in them...so if they do get an equivalent to this phone, expect it to be a few years down the road. CDMA does have some stuff to offer (more user capacity, analog fallback), but for most people that are really into mobile phone technology, GSM is the only way to go to keep up with things. GSM is a world standard, and above that GSM is now moving to a wideband CDMA system that makes traditional CDMA networks look like a joke - they call this new 3rd generation GSM 'UMTS'.
