Losing ringtones when powering off?

I've run into the first irritating problem with this almost perfect phone... it seems that if you place a ringtone (for me, I'm using a midi file) into the "My Sounds" folder, it actually places this file into temporary memory. So, if you power off and back on, the file has been deleted. Anybody know a way to get a ringtone into the "My Sounds" directory (so that it is recognized as a ringtone) AND have it remain in permanent memory? Any advice is appreciated.

i put all of my mp3 ringtones(30sec clips)in the application data file on my 5600.this is how to acces this file on the phone.start>more>file manager>storage>application data>sounds!

they way to put them on the phone using active sync is : copy the ringtone then paste in this folder.
you have right click onthe ringtone you want select copy then paste it in your phones storage>application data >sounds file!!
