Does it play WMA music files?

I was finally able to order this phone from ATT with my sharable plan. I had a feeling I would eventually find someone to do it for me. It's on the way now. I'm wondering if I'll be able to play music files on it that are not in the MP3 format? Will it play everything that the regular Windows Media Player on my desktop plays?

Yes, the SMT 5600 definitely plays WMA. I think it can play pretty much any WMA 8 or 9 stereo audio file. I think I just read that WMA Lossless even works (not sure).

What I haven't tried yet is much older music files from early WMA/ASF codecs.

WMA can even be used as the ringtone for incoming calls, although I recommend using WAV for that purpose instead. There's both a delay and some slowness of phone operation with a WMA ringtone.

One caveat to using wma or mp3 for ringtones. You must place ringotones in your sounds folder. If you assign an mp3 that is located on your MiniSD card, as a ringtone, you will lose the ringtone when you power down your phone.

Also yes WMA Lossless works. Actually, after doing a little research on the matter, lossless is what they recommend.
