losing sound files

😡 Help. I have installed a wav file in the windows directory of my smt. I then set my alarm program to use my wav file. All is good. When I turn the phone off and turn it back on, the file is missing from the windows directory and not in the alarm program. I have tried putting it into my docs/mysounds. It stays there, but my alarm program wont find it there. Any ideas on why the file keeps disappearing?

Thanks

I am having the same problem. I have dowloaded several wav and wma files, but I can not locate them to set as a ringtone. I can play them on the media player, but when I go to sounds/ringtones- it is not in there.

May be because it's in the wrong place. Try putting them in

[Storage\Application Data\Sounds]

instead. That is the correct place for those files to be.

Hope that works for you. 🙂

Thanks,

That helps keep the ringtones. However, i have a alarm program from sunnysoft that needs the alarm wavs to be in windows folder. It keeps removing that from my settings? Any clue on that one? I am so lost with it.

When it comes to 3rd party software, all bets are off. I am not familiar with that package, so I cannot say for certain what the deal is.

You may want to do a check to see WHEN the file is getting deleted. For example, put the file in the directory, run a few apps--be sure to write down EXACTLY what you run and in what order, than check the directory again to see if the file is gone. If you can determine WHEN the file is disappearing, that may help narrow down the issue.

When you can replicate the deletion on demand, you will want to share that with Sunnysoft as well--they may be of some help to you in this.

I do not know of anything BUILT IN to Windows Mobile that goes around deleting files from the Windows directory, so I can only...

Another question for you: are the alarm .WAV files disappearing, or is the app just losing the setting you did to point at those .WAV files?

Winhack,

The alarm wav files are being deleted from the windows folder when I power the phone off and then on. I have repeated several times to see what would happen. I have done everything but remove the app and reinstall.

Sounds like the 3rd party software maker didn't fully test this before releasing it.
