Hey all,

Potentially dumb questions, but why is it obvious that this phone is destined for Cingular / AT&T?

And are we sure that North America will get this phone at all? If you follow the link on the info page to Nokia's product page, the initial page doesn't indicate a North American launch (though subsequent pages sort of do.)

Later days,

You can tell by the frequency that the phone is slated to work on. ATT/Cingular uses GSM 800/850

No problem. It is a pretty slick looking phone. I will be holding out for either the 6620 or the 7610...can't decide which!

Yeah those are my choices, tho i am really interested in the 6230 also. I got to play with it when nokia came by our offices, and i fell in love with it. i will have to play paper, rock, scissors to decide. I will probably get the 6230 for myself and get the 7610 or 6620 for my wife... that way i can snag hers when i need to...lol

This phone will probably be released somewhere in the Americas, but that doesn't necessarily mean the U.S. According to Nokia, it hasn't been decided yet.

Well, I don't think any other carrier in the americas are going PTT anytime soon, so it's a given that Cingular will carry it. Cingular is testing a few different PTT options and the launch should be around october or november. I know for a fact that the goal is to have it available for christmas.

Trust me, it's not a given.

The 6260 will be released in both Eurasian (GSM 900) and Americas (GSM 850) versions. There are plenty of PTT carriers in EMEA and Asia.

Just because the phone has PTT, doesn't mean that only PTT carriers will offer it. Any carrier could offer this phone. If the carrier doesn't offer PTT, then that feature would simply not be operational.

Actually it's a given... that phone has been used in cingular's ptt tests; as well as the 5140.

Good to know - thanks!

I was just saying that because there's a phone with GSM 850 and PTT for the Americas, that doesn't make it a given that Cingular will carry it. That seemed to be what you were saying before.

Hey no prob, Rich. The phone hasn't "officially" been added to the cingular line up, but the testing guys like the phone.

If you read the specs, they say an 850 Mhz version is coming out, 850 is a North America band, Europe, Asia, and the Asia Pacific do not use this band.
