I'd say it's really unique.. it's certainly different from the other clamshells out there.

I'm going to withhold a real opinion until I actually get to use one.

But nonetheless sure to be an excellent performer on any U.S. GSM network. I'll stake money on that.

P.S. I don't think it's particularly ugly...it just throws me off because it's Nokia and I expect a bar phone.

It's not that bad, just the picture makes it look not so good. I have played with it at CTIA and the design is unique and clean, but it will not sell well because it is a niche market design.

No outside display for caller ID? Clam shell for clams? This better be a cheap enrty level device. Too may REAL clamshells out there with outer displays for caller ID. Even Motorola got the hint after the Star-Tac. 🙄

actually the majority of entry level clamshell phones dont have the outside display. Just check out the LG 4015 and Samsung X426. BOth are top seller clamshell phones and neither has an outside display. THat is already getting to the midrange area.

He's got a point there, we couldn't keep the X426 in stock when it first came out.

And I'll bet you anything the Motorola 171 will sell like crazy too. If it's got a "FREE" tag on it, it will sell, and probably well.

i just got this phone for free with an indirect dealer in manhattan on john street and broadway just in case your wondering it was called cellular plus for some reason it has no gprs icons or anything to allow access to the internet i will agree it is strange but the battery life and reception make up for it mainly because anyone purchasing this thing is obviously not a gadget freak anyway cause it does nothing but i do like having a phone no one else has and it is only my secondary phone for going out at night cause i carry a blackberry 7290 during the day so this is the perfect i wanna make a statement but not trying spend to much money doing it phone who needs gadgets in a club you just wanna look good or at least stand out and this phone...

I bought this phone on eBay over a year ago, and everyone *loves* it. No one has seen a Nokia flip phone before, and people have said that it looks like a couch, a snake's underbelly, and "just really sleek." I think it will sell well. I knew when I first saw it that it was cool, but I guess some of you might need to see it in person to recognize it's coolness!
