I'm certain that yours does work well without the ROM update, as did mine before I updated the ROM on BOTH XV6600's that I own, but there is notable improvement to anyone who is serious about theirs and would like the FREE upgrade. As for Windows Media Player 10 Mobile, you can play MP3's now, which couldn't be done on Windows Media Player 9 Mobile. And with managing your playlists, the automated search for compatible files to me is actually more convenient, and this version also supports display of album cover art provided that you sync it with either Windows Media Player 10 or even 11 Beta 2 on your PC. All in all, I noticed improvement on bluetooth, it actually gets better range without static than it did before. Also, the included ringers are slightly louder, but I had already created and installed my own ringers and system sounds that were plenty loud enough, so that aspect of the upgrade wasn't as important to me personally. The point made here is that there IS a FREE upgrade available, and if there wasn't, you would be sitting here complaining about that instead. Thanks UTStarcom/Audiovox for even bothering to support a now discontinued phone.
