Latest VZW Pricing $399 2 yr Agmt
VZW has reduced the price of the phone from $549 to $399 (with a 2 year agreement). It's not reflected on their web site yet, but if you go to one of their stores, they can look it up on the internal pricing matrix.
I just bought one yesterday at the $399 price.
I'm also curious to see if any of you are offered the 660 at $349. Someone in another forum made that claim, but my VZW store said the price is $399.

Go to the above link and see that it's reflected online. But Verizon does not say that. Sprint is way behind Verizon in Customer service.
If the regular price is $299, I'd be getting the phone for $199 after the discount - a pretty good price.
Thanks for the info on the promo date though, I'll keep watching (I'm still within the 15 day window).
Any opinions?
😲
1) Ring tones that are not loud enough - You may be able to tinker with this, but the ring tones will never approach standard cell phone quality.
2) Low sound quality when using the 6600 by itself or the stereo headset. You may be able to get around this with a separate headset with volume control.
3) Poor batter life.
In short, the device is a bad phone.
On the plus side, it's a good PDA. I especially like to WAN connectivity, the built-in keyboard, and the large screen. It can also act as a USB modem for your laptop.
You have to decide what's important to you. The Samsung i730 may be a good alternative, but it's relatively new and rumor has it that Verizon disabled DUN amon...

The battery life for the i730 standard battery is reported to be about the same, but the i730 have an optional extended life battery that almost doubled the times.
The i730 will sell for over $600 WITH a two year contract.
The biggest things that are probably driving down the XV6600's price are:
1) Competition. Sprint AND Verizon are selling them as their premier phone
2) The XV 6600 ia already obsolete. Microsoft released their new Mobile 5 OS last month, and the XV6600 can't use it. Mobile 5 allows much better one handed phone use and better data protection against power losses, etc.
