Yes this phone is EVDO compatible, although VZW has no immediate plans to have a connectivity kit to support this, so this will only help apps on the phone.

erg, that is so so. I use alot of the apps on my 7135 and rarely use the EVDO on my laptop except about once a year, but I would like to beable to use this that once a year.

The other thing that makes me nurvious is the fact this is a device from Audiovox not made by Toshiba.... most of thouse turn out to be compleat crap. Is there any other EVDO PDA devices in testing that anyone knows of?

Audiovox White labels equipment from a variety of OEMs. This device is from the large Japanese company HTC, not Toshiba.

This phone is actually built by HTC from Taiwan. AudioVox/Toshiba are merely painting their name on it and selling it, as HTC has no sales channels of it's own, or end user support. They focus primarily on design, development and manufacturing.

You can also look at http://www.clubimate.com and see the iMate line, which is the same phone, also by HTC.

This device is made by HTC, not Curitel. Audiovox has not carried many HTC devices in the past. So unless you have a specific beef with the Audiovox SMT-5600, please do not judge the PPC-6600 on any kind of quality basis until you can judge it for yourself, in person.

Ditto. I've used a test model and it rocks! This is the real deal if you need reasonable bandwidth in a handheld.

Also, it does support BT DUN for Verizon as well.

Cool.

Sprint is the only carrier who is selling the Audiovox 6601 1x device (Dial up speeds). Verizon will have the EVDO device (upto 2mbps).

I'm waiting for the speed.
