Sony 300 Headset, NOT!

Have been reading here how the SX66 Bluetooth will work with the Sony 300 Headset. It is clearer than the Motorola 820, but has the exact, same, problem with staying connected. Wait awhile, make a call, and the headset doesn't work. To make it work, click off the Bluetooth on the phone, click it back on, then the headset works again for a few calls in quick succession. A short time between calls and it's click off, click on, to get things to work.
I've now got $200. in headsets that essentialy don't work. They're like the cell phones themselves. If they worked like they're supposed to, great! They don't. Someday the technology will match the expectations.

lol, obviously you didn't read what everyone is posting abuot. the sony is better. As far as clearity. The disconnect problems is known. it's the phone not the headset... they are making a patch to fix it, but for now any headset you use is gonna act up with the bluetooth feature of the phone.

Well, the good news is I'm not alone with the Bluetooth issue. So far, I have tried the Motorola 820 and even got the one from Siemens (which was worse than the 820). Here is a responce I received from Siemens:

"Thank you for contacting Siemens Customer Care. I would like to thank you for your trust and support by inquiring about the SX66. I will be glad to assist you.

I understand that you want to know when an upgrade to the Bluetooth stack will be available.

At this time I don't have any information about when a Bluetooth upgrade will be available. Any upgrades that Siemens does distribute will be posted on our website, listed below, where you can download and install.

The stack that comes with the SX66 is in fact Bluetooth ...

Is there a national retailer that offers the Sony 300, or do I need to buy it online. Immediate gratification is a beautiful thing.

i have the 300 with the BT patch. and my results are good. i never used it without the patch i installed so i can't tell you how bad it is. as far as connectivity it stays connected 92% of the time. dropps off (i noticed) when there isn't any signal. also answering with pressing answer on the hand set cause it to actually pick up on the handset. if i press the button on the headset it works great. i get static 1 call every3 days. and i noticed that transfering the call to the handset then to the bt headset again clears up the static. so all in all i'm happy with the bt on the phone.but your gonna need the bt patch and the sony heaset.

OK...I got the 300 headset and it worked OK. I wish somebody had mentioned that it was bulky, not adjustable and uncomfortable! It worked OK, but I sent it back due to the size and weight.

I reverted back to the one I bought on the Siemen's website. Very compact and it works as well as the 300 headset.

My 2 cents worth.

Robgnfla:

Did you buy the Seimen's 640 BT HS? I have the Moto 810 that worked great on my SMT5600, but there is a lot of static with SX66. The BT patch does seem to help a bit, but no cigar.

Do you have any static on the Seimen's 640? I am tempted to buy if it offer trouble-free service, but hesitate because I think the problem lies with the BT SW on the SX66.

What would you say since you have the 640?

Thanks.

The Siemen's headset is my 3rd try at getting decent reception.

It's not perfect, but it is a lot better than others I have tried. Very little static, if any and it is comfortable to wear.

There is the usual problem of interference if you are near certain radiating signals, but it's working much better than the Motorola 820.

The Sony 300 was OK, but very uncomfortable, bulky and heavy.

You are correct, there is an issue with the BT stack in the SX66, but this is a pretty good band-aid.

I ordered it right off of the Siemen's website under accessories for SX66.

KRock, you say you have the BT patch. Where did you get it from? I am very interested in it, and would like to deploy it on my phone as well.

Shawn

Maybe I should try the patch for the Siemens BT before I send it back. Can you provide the patch?
