Danger Hiptop 2 / Sidekick II
I'm mad at T-Mobile right now...
OK, so my SKII broke this past Thursday.
I know SKII is still for sale on T-Mobile's website...
They're trying to get me to upgrade to their MDA phone...
I haven't yet exhausted all of my options for getting a new SKII... 🙂
I'm just wondering what's best - SKII vs. SKIII vs. MDA...
I don't think I like MDA...
I could care less about Bluetooth...
I'm deaf - I don't use voice. I have a data-only plan from T-Mobile for my SKII...
Anyway, can't get a SKII in the store! They told me I could get it in a store - went to a store - they said they were all out - an hour's drive for nothing! Gee.
Oh, and I'm a Mac user, so I could care less about PC enabled phones, too.
I'm also open to a good SKII alternative that's goo...

Just got off the phone with a T-Mobile rep. They told me that they took Sidekick II off their lineup! Hence why they're not selling Sidekick II anymore. Hmm. What are deaf people going to do now? I guess I should get a Blackberry, huh? 😉

I have 1 deaf friend/customer who got a 7290. He does like it, but the downside is you have to have blackberry plan. which is 29.99, but only offers 300 domestic text messages. so unless u send text in the e-mail format, that cant be good. so then the 2nd choice is get the unlimited text add-on, which is 14.99, but you need a voiceplan which the cheapest is 29.99 for 300 mins m-f and unl sat/sun (which you dont need) and then the black berry add-on for 19.99. so in total 65/month vs your sk plan. If you do go with the MDA, then the total is 75/month.
I am checking now to see if you can have just a blackberry plan for 29.99 and add unl text messaging. But still, it will be 15 more than what you pay for SK plan.....And the answer is....

If you are deaf don't buy the sidekick 3, you will never hear it! The ringer is really low compared to the sidekick 2. The features are cool but just a step up from the SK2. Buy a used one on ebay, that is my advice.
