those two are compression software that nextel has on their network to help capacity. right now nextel has 3:1 on their interconnect (regular ccalling) but 6:1 on the direct connect. what they will do in the future or near term, they will install the 6:1 voice coder for the interconnect (voice calling). its basically a capacity thing. the 3:1 means that there are 3 people to 1 channel and with 6:1 it means that there are 6 people to 1 channel.

"Yea verizon has a 6:1 this is why verizon has the best service so far"

1. verizon doesnt have the 6:1 and that is not why verizon is the best service.
2. actually now cingular/att wireless is now the best wireless service.
3. nextel is upgrading their 3:1 voice coder to 6:1 voice coder.
4. reason why verizon wireless is so big is becuase mostly of roaming deals plus 5+ billion dollars in spending per year on capex. they also build like 2-3 towers everywhere nextel has 1 or 2. so that capacity for them would be easier but its a waste of money to build 2-3 towers in a single place and THATS WHY VERIZON DOESNT HAVE THE 6:1 VOICE CODER. if they did have the voice coder they wouldnt have to build 2-3 towers in a single place.

well with verizon they share networks with other companies and that is usually what makes a company stronger. its like adding verizon's towers and sprint's towers and frequencies. when you add those it will be powerful just like it is now. nextel has no roaming agreements and they are strong now but they have to build more towers and to implement the voice coder and other compression agents. most important like i mentioned to you was to get rid of the interference which causes a lot of the dead zones and make all of the spectrum they have more efficiently.

i think once nextel gets
1. the contigious spectrum for both 1.9 and 800mhz.
2. gets rid of the interference
3. uses the 900mhz they have
4. builds more towers
5. implements the...
