Verizon? When?

LastFlightOut

Aug 6, 2004, 12:54 PM
Is there anyone out there who knows if this will be offered by VZW, and when? Will the speaker phone be duplex (like the 710)or not?

Not than I am too picky here: I need a Tri-Mode, flip, speaker phone, dual display, web access, replaceable cover, no camera, no bluetooth that is NOT made in Korea. Is that too much to ask for? I hope not.

Oh yeah, I would also like it to to be out in the next few months with Verizon. If you know of any others that fit the bill, please let me know.
Thanks.

Just an FYI...

The speakerphone on the V710 is VERY good... But it is half-dulplex... I have personally tested it...

Motorola refers to it as an "Office Quality Speakerphone"...

I am a VZW corporate sales rep in the midwest. The inventory in the wharehouse sems to be last updated 10/29/04. It shows that there are over 15,000 of the V260's in there. It also shows over 35,000 V265's. No accy's are in there for the V260, however. There are ext batteries & holsters for the V265. These actualy should work on both phones, the colors may not match. anyway, for those waiting for this phone, it looks like it should be soon. I have no clue about the date on this phone, Infomanager states 11/5 for the V265.

The V265 will be $149.99 with a $50 M.I.R. for a 2 year, I would have to imagine the V260 will be a good chunk less because it does not have the camera. Just a guess.

Keep an eye out for them at Radio Shack...maybe a week or two after the V265 hits the shelf. Motorola has started shipping the phone, it's just a matter of getting them launched at the stores.

US Cellular is supposed to have this around that time. Price will probably be close.
I think this might be the phone for me as the v810 is a bit high priced and the KOI that has so much buzz about it is going to be at $200 with a 2 year contract which is WAY to high for a pocket phone.

I work at RadioShack and we start selling this phone today, 11-10-04. It is a really nice phone and I have already sold 1 this morning. It is the same phone as the V265 but without the camera, personally I like the look of the 265 better but everything is the same functionally. Overall I say it is a great phone, it is tri-mode which is nice if you have Verizon since it will work anywhere Verizon has service or has contracts to use service.

Thnaks for the heads up that Radio Shack is carrying the V260. I weent into a shack today and looked at the phone. First inpression was it was a bit plastic looking on the outside. The V265 looks nicer. Since the covers are replaceable it should be able to get some cooler covers in the near future- the soft touch paint style would be nice. The buttons are a bit small on the outside but on the inside they are nice - better than the V710 anayway in my opinion. the speakerphone can be turned on before making a call with just one button and it is reasonably loud. Not mentioned before is there is a lanyard loop on the top for running a string through to keep it attached to your wrist or whatever ,however it doesn't look lke it would take a l...

Any one have any updates on when this phone might be available in the Verizon stores? There was a rumor of Black Friday?

As of this morning, Verizon is still telling me they don't know when. I guess it no longer matters to me because I decided to go for the v265. Did RS take back your 260?

Yes, RS did take it back and reset my account so all is well. They still tried telling me that I would get the same price offer at a Verizon store but I know that to not be true so I ignored them.

I would love the V265 if only my company allowed cameras! That's why I'm waiting with baited breath for the V260. My old T720 is literally falling apart. The antenna is half-broken and there are some ominous creaks coming from it when I hold it. So hopefully it will be soon!
I am thinking that maybe since the V265 is on sale until 28 Nov that the V260 will be introduced after that and the V265 price will go back up.

good ... i am happy that they took it back.
The roomer about black friday came from an owner of a private verizon store. so i am preaty sure that that will be the date. supposedly verizon has 2-3 phones they are bringing withing a week of that date. i don't think any others are without camera or ptt.

any way i am waiting as well for this phone.
what company do you work for that you cant use your phone? ( i work for Harris corp (government comm))

That would be great if it came out this weekend! Would give me time to play with it and program it to my heart's content before heading back to work on Monday.

For the one night I owned it I really took a liking to it. The auto voice recognition thing is amazing! And I noticed that the phone book (sorry - contacts!) now has categories (ie- general, business, and personal) I have been wanting that for a while! And yes, you can program multiple numbers for one name. Its all very nice!

blackgoldgator - I work for Boeing. (government stuff as well) Looks like all the big companies are doing the no camera thing.

I just picked up my v265 at the verizon store. Cost=$0, using the new every 2. Only had it about an hour but so far everything looks first rate. I previously had a V60i for 2 years. Here's an idea: Order a v260 faceplate from site posted on this forum. Get a free v265 from Verizon. Put v260 faceplate on it. Instant non-camera phone for those who require it.

It would only fit if you could figure out a way to get rid of the V265 camera lens...it sticks out too far.

Are you sure? I looked at the 260 and 265 side by side at Radio Shack and it looked like it would work. I don't have a 260 at home but I am looking at my 265 and the camera lens looks quite recessed.
