This model is made for a CDMA carrier such as Verizon Wireless, Alltel, Sprint PCS, U.S.Cellular etc. Since Verizon Wireless plans to release the V710 in August, this V265 a sister model to the V710 may not be a interest to Verizon Wireless.

Not sure if this would be considered a "sister" to the V710.

One big difference is that even though both have the E911 GPS feature built-in, the V265 goes further and adds direction-finding capability, so you get a phone and automated driving directions in one unit.

But, that can only help you so long as you are in the coverage area.

The v265 is probably the replacement for the v810 as the v265 is a mid-tier phone just like the v810 was supposed to be. The only thing the v810 has over the v265 is a larger, higher res screen, but I still want one.

US Cellular will be getting this phone, provided of course that it passes testing

The V265 is alot like the V220 in my opinion. So the price with be half what the V710 or V810 will be. Normally, whatever Alltel has for phones, Verizon Wireless will or already has the same phone. Sometimes US Cellular is in a league of their own, but nothing is ever permanent. My wife is looking for a small dark colored phone. And the V265 looks like the winner, so I'll have to wait and see who is the provider. if not, it will be the V810.

aldcon, if you're just getting the V265 to test now, where does that put the launch date? Word is that the V265 is really close to launch. Also, are you're getting a v810 from Verizon for testing? Does that mean the v810 is not necessarily dead from Verizon? REALLY APPRECIATE any input you can provide.

No offense aldcon, but you've got a serious credability problem here. Weren't you the guy who said the 810 was DEFINITELY coming out for VZW? Didn't happen did it. Won't happen because of the v260/265. They don't need all of them especially with new phones from Audi, Nokia and LG coming out.

So, I don't know what your game is. The facts just never back up your posts. Also, it is pretty common knowledge - from posters with a lot better track record than yourself - that the 265 is just about out of testing now and will be approved shortly. And you're just getting one to test now? BS! Pour a ton of salt on whatever this guy says in this forum!

The v810 is all but dead with Verizon, but it was never "formally" rejected, so there's a very small chance it will come out...but don't count on it. The fact that Aldcon is getting another v810 to use/test means just that...no more; no less.

As for Aldcon getting a v265, he's probably getting one from his contact at Motorola because the phone is about to launch shortly. In other words, the software is fairly stable and the phone is going to be carried.

Yes, Aldcon's credibility is suspect, but I will give him a chance on the v810 because I want the v810 out for Verizon. With some minor fixes such as a more stable WAP browser and other tweaks, this phone will be a good seller.

My skewed view is that Motorola already made a bunch of v810s for Verizon and they are sitting somewhere and perhaps part of the deal with other Moto products is to find a way for Verizon to take them since the v810 was mostly ready to go. Again, just my skewed view and I have no facts to back it up.

Sorry man. This is wishful thinking. What company in their right mind makes a substantial production run of any product without a firm order/commitment? Especially given that last minute hardware tweaks might need to be made prior to approval. Don't believe this at all. But, wish it was true.

Wishful, yes. Which is why I call my viewpoint "skewed". The last-minute hardware tweaks were already made, specifically the switch to the stubby antenna because the extended version showed up in the camera lens. At the Motorola Analyst Day on July 27, it was Motorola that stated Verizon was no longer interested in the v810 after this was a requested modification by Verizon. This became "a wasted expense for PCS." I later verified this through my Verizon contacts. So, I'm cool.

I do think a substantial amount of v810 phones were made without branding and US Cellular took a batch of them. And, being the optimist, I still think there is a small chance Verizon will reconsider, but I'm not counting on it. 🙂
