revolutionary or gimmick?

Alrighty, this phone is impressive, no argument there. But I'm forced to ask is this really something that we can expect to take hold of the future of mobile phones? Or is it a damn fine marketing tool to get/keep people looking at Motorola?

We're seeing materials and designs that have never been used in cell phones before. Aircraft aluminum, chemical etched touchpad keyboard, thinnest design ever used on a working mobile phone, etc.. I may be wrong (and kindly correct me if I am) but we saw similar things when Nokia introduced the Communicator line.
