My bf wants to get this phone. He wants my advise on the phone, I told him it was a good phone but he does A LOT of txt msging.
Do you guys think this phone is txt msging friendly? I ask this cuz of the keypad being so flat, he does a lot of txt msging, even while driving too!!! I don't want him to get in a car accident cuz of this phone 😕 ☚ī¸

My advice, get something designed more towards texting. This is a real small phone and if your bf has fat fingers like mine, this would be a nightmare phone for texting. Something more like a SK or Q would be more up his alley. Maybe they aren't as small or look as nice, but texting and looks aren't usually a great combo.

Well, he wanted to get the A630. But it was discontinued when we went to the store to get it. We were very disappointed. I wanted him to get it, so I could use it here and there too! 😁 (I really liked that phone) We usually trade phones.

You ever consider a Blackberry or a Treo? The A630 would have been cool, but in the absense of something like that, that could be an alternative.

Look at the new Nokia 6822 for texting! Nokia just added it to it's "available phones" today. It's got the flip our QWERTY keyboard -like the 6820.

Wow we were not aware of that one. Thanks. 😉

My son uses my old 6820. He absolutely loves it for texting. He won't use any other phone because he says none are as fast for texting. I really liked the 6820, except the display quality was not great. Now, the 6822 has a new and improved display. The camera is very good too.

I bet you'd like it a lot! I'll probably buy my son the 6822 for birthday or Christmas.

But you can't fold out the keyboard while driving. Use T9 predictive text. I am actually faster with that on my 6620 than I was on my old 6800 keyboard phone.

I text a lot too, and I was innitially woried about doing it on the RAZR, but there are actually rubber separators between the keys, the lines between the keys are actually raised higher than the keypad and is really easy to text on. I would recomend it! itap is like t9 only better I couldn't imagine using normal texting because it takes too long, itap is also adaptive too and predicts long words and email addresses that are frequently used. try it out for the 30 days and return it if you don't like it, thats what I did but I haven't returned mine because I like it soo much.

I have the V551 as well as the Black RAZR, and at first, it was sort of hard to adapt to texting on the RAZR because the buttons aren't raised, as they are on the V551. A problem I had with the V551 was that sometimes a button would stick.. which was a real problem with using iTap because it would totally mess up a word. But I have had absolutely no problems with texting the RAZR.

yeah and even though the actual keys aren't raised, the blue backlight areas that outline the keys are raised allowing you to feel the different buttons, and just another short story that might reinforce your decision, My friend has a v710 on Alltel and she just could not shut up about how hard it must be to text on a RAZR, so I let her try it one day and to her surprise it was actually easier than the v710, and after I tried her v710 I understand why, its hard to feel between the different keys and the buttons are like a soft rubber, which makes it harder to type fast without missing the actual button, while RAZR's keypad is much more sensitive when you push the buttons.

With purchase a set of Mobile Action manager from CompUSA, I think it just make the Razr even more user friendly. You should purchase one set if you own a Razr too.

LOL! I think (s)he works for Mobile Action - comes in once every few weeks and posts 3 - 5 messages about what a great product it is. It slices, it dices, it filets!

Maybe CompUSA is a new customer?

Unfortunately, overkill actually discourages sales.

Yes I think you're right. I know you've had the RAZR for quite awhile now. I picked up one about 6 weeks ago, brand new for $80 so it was hard to resist. What other phones do you have or have had recently?

I bought a Nokia 6230 for my wife at the same time I got my Razr. Can't say I have much personal experience using it, though.

Before that we had SE GAIT phones. Don't recall the model.

I followed the development of the RAZR for a good 4 months on this forum, waiting for it to be intro'd. I actually got one a few days before it was officially released for sale in the US market. It's the first phone I've paid more than a token amount for, because it's the first phone that really fits my needs - and still does.

$80 sounds like a steal. I think I paid $600! 😲

I paid $400 for my 6620 and it's still my primary phone, but due to the fact that I have 2 numbers, I also mainly have started carrying the RAZR as my secondary phone. If it's not the RAZR I'm carrying, its the SE S710a. But as of yet, nothing has come along worthy of replacing my 6620 as the primary one. The 6230 is a nice phone in it's own right though. Somewhat surprising your wife didn't want a RAZR such as yourself.

iTAP is HARDER to text on. Most phones have T9 text prediction which makes texting fast and easy. The Razr has iTAP ONLY, texting is slower and not as easy to use as T9 text.
