Can anyone help with troubleshooting?
I purchased from MOTO (downloaded) then ran Live update. I cannot get it to see my phone. Tech help from MOto is non existant.

I have never gotten any version of MPT to recognize my phone when I try to set it up as a V3.

If you can uninstall/reinstall and select the Moto A680 as the phone you want to connect then you should get the results you want.

I know it sounds ridiculous but I've done this and the program works seamlessly. Only bummer is that the phone Icon that pops up to work with isn't the V3!

Interesting, I had no issues with MPT and my V3, the only thing is going to redetect the phone every time, as I also use it thru USB for my wife's V400 (I have a BT hub Mouse and keyboard, so MPT can go BT for the V3, though I'll use a mini-USB for p2kman)

I'm not sure why are you getting that message because I can get MPT 3.19 to detect my RAZR. Although, I had to run LiveUpdate first before everything would work properly. Also, I am using a USB connection on a WinXP system.

Try this, fresh reboot of computer, connect your phone to USB cable, if it doesn't pop a mobile v3 device attached, goto device manager and do a scan for changes.

turn on MPT, it should be looking for the phone... if not, while negotiating, do the scan for hardware changes again.

I have no problem of connecting mpt 3.19e (cd with live update) and just about every function works well except for Internet connection feature .

I have finally gotten it right!! The SE P900 suite in my PC is somehow hogging the connection to the MPT (how tat happens is a mystery.. guess compatibility issues).
so wat i did was to uninstall the P900 software and... wala, it works!! i managed to sync my contacts into the V3.... yippeeee....!!!!

Well, you guys should really try Mobile Action's data transfer kit (MA-8870 Handset Manager), it works very nice on my V3 too, plus it also charges the phone!

I thought someone had determined you can use any USB/mini USB cable with the V3 elbow adaptor to charge your phone off your computer without any software?

You don't need the elbow adapter...

I recall at least one person had found they needed the adaptor for their particular USB cable to make the correct pin connections.....

But you are agreeing, that you don't need any software to do this, correct?

No reason to run out and buying something you don't need.....

You need the USB drivers for the V3. These come with MPT and most other phone software products.

A little searching on the net should yield the appropriate USB drivers without having to buy any software...Worst case, download MOBILedit!, it's free and probably has the drivers...

Mobiledit has drivers for roughly 200 phones, these are phone-pc communication drivers though, not cable-pc drivers. You should get a cable driver bundled with your cable. Otherwise, it is a very useful software and you can keep it with different phone makes you get later.

Mobile Action's MA8870 and MA-700 bluetooth works just perfect for Razr. You should consider it if you own a Razr. 🙂

Thanks for sharing. I use HandsetManager on 3 of my computers (2 desktop and 1 notebook), it charges my phone no matter which computer I use though... so in your situation, I guess its either your cable is broken, or the USB port on your new laptop has problem?
Very thanks for sharing your experience with me. 🙂
