Does anyone know if it is possible to send a ringtone to the phone through messaging and save it as a ringtone. I know I could always use a usb cable and bitpim. Another question: can the phone play .mp3 files or only .mid?

You can not send ringtones via messaging. The phone can play MP3 files.
